I’ve been waiting to see a video of them and someone’s finally put one up on youtube! I know they’ve only been together for a very short time and this is a pretty primitive video but there’s just something about their skating that reminds me of a young Gordeeva & Grinkov. I know, I probably sound crazy, but I’ve never even remotely thought that about any other pairs team. Maybe because he seems more mature, reserved and she’s just a delightfully charming little one. There’s also that understated grace and even with some glitches (I think she initially landed that second throw but tripped) in that performance I think they’ve got massive potential because I don’t really see any underlying skating issues; they have beautiful lines, posture and use their entire bodies (look at their poses and use of arms, hands) expressively and in a very pure Russian-ballet kind of way—not at all overdone, I’m so sick of that in current pairs!
