Figure Skating in Australia

No reason! Check out their Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya and Harley Windsor, who won a JGP event and finished sixth in Seniors at Finlandia!

I'm really proud of the way he skated this morning. Apparently he is suffering tendonitis, and it was kind of apparent he wasn't 100%, but he landed that beautiful quad toe and he rotated everything else and he never once stopped fighting. I hope he and Tammy know where to look rather than just his placement, because sure he finished last, but there was so much to be pleased about. I think this is his fourth competition in a row where he has scored over 210, and considering it was only Skate America last year where he broke 200 for the first time, that's really huge.

Despite the 10th place, he skated better than last year.
The tendonitis means that he finds the salchow very painful at the moment.
He does not have any GP assignments now, so he can go back to base, recover etc.

He is a lot tougher mentally than he used to be.

There are currently four empty grand prix assignments that need to be filled.
Brendan might just get his second assignment.

In saying that I hope Sota Yamamoto, Romain Ponsart, and He Zhang are alright- and if they are injured- that they will get well soon.

This is going to be a smashing couple of weeks. We have skaters at the Senior B this weekend AND it's an Aussie invasion of Latvia the weekend after - which will double up with Brendan's second GP at TdF!

Whoops, I miscalculated. So:

VOLVO OPEN CUP, LATVIA (9-13/11)

Sr Men - Andrew Dodds
Sr Ladies - Kailani Craine, Brooklee Han
Sr Pairs - Paris Stephens/Matthew Dodds
Sr Dance - Kimberly Hew-Low/Timothy McKernan

Jr Men - Charlton Doherty
Jr Ladies - Holly Harris
Jr Pairs - Jessica Rotondo/Ryan Dodds
Jr Dance - Jessica Palfreyman/Charlton Doherty

TROPHEE DE FRANCE, FRANCE (9-13/11)

Men - Brendan Kerry

WARSAW CUP, POLAND (17-20/11)

Men - Mark Webster
Ladies - Kailani Craine
Pairs - Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya/Harley Windsor

So nobody this weekend, as far as I'm aware, but it's going to be a fun few weeks after that.

My apologies, I dropped the ball on the weekend (probably a combination of work and Rostelecom at 2am). Congratulations to Kimberly Hew-Low and Timothy McKernan on their international debut at NRW Ice Dance Trophy! You can see the results/protocols here.

This weekend we have the mass invasion of Latvia and Brendan at Trophee France. I will be posting times later in the week but I can tell you right now it's not looking fun, looks like a 4am wakeup call to watch Brendan...

Okay sorry guys, I will be posting times today, looks like Latvia starts TONIGHT, but not until like midnight. I will try and get it all done but as I'm sure you can imagine there are a lot of times to do and a lot of conversions to make.

Times are AEDT as always and pretty ugly this week.

Yeah, great job from Kimberley and Tim.
Australia is really going hardball with ice dance now. There are so mant more teams now than ever. I hope over time, this will help lift each other's game and we will see an Aussie dance team on World or Olympic ice soon.

Post now updated with all the times for this week and this one is baaaaaaaaaaaad.

Snow = can be dangerous to Aussies :(

I hope she feels better soon

Great job from Holly HArris for her SP.

Great score and very high pcs - she has much better artistry than Kailani and would probably beat all the seniors at the moment . Who ever did her choreography is very good - it's extremely intricate . Lovely to see an Australian skating looking graceful and not so aggressive . Living overseas obviously is paying off for Holly and Brendan

I think she takes from Christy Krall in Colorado Springs atm.
Also, she is only 13 years old and skating with a great awareness of being patient with her movements and her lines are not bad at all.

Also, great job from Kimberley and Timothy & India and Patrick receiving the Minimum TES for the FD for four continents.
All they need is the SD one and we will have two confirmed dance teams for four continents.

K/T need to do 3 points better technically in the SD I/P need 2 points more technically for the SD

Re: Holly, she actually just turned 14 a week or so ago. Happy birthday, Holly!

And goodness, she's already three points up from her JGP event last month. I really hope we see her at junior worlds... and if she keeps improving at that rate, top 10 perhaps? :luv17:
