Figure Skating in Australia

So William and Matilda, as well as Adele and Demid have earned the TES minimum for the SD (19.00)
If they get the free dance, they will be off to four continents.

That will only leave Kimberley and Tim getting the SD minimum

Good news, out two dance teams have skated well and earned the minimum for Four Continents.

So we have 2 more senior dance teams, and one more spot.
We have India Nette/Patrick Adderley and Kimberley Hew-Low and Tim McCKernan who both have the free dance score, but yet to gain the SD minimum

What a Four Continents team this could be! One of our biggest ever, I would think.

Two days til Nationals starts! WOOHOO!

They say there is going to be a livestream. If they do, i hope its not via youtube. Because the copyright monsters on youtube will be lurking around and try to take down everything

^Youtube is the most user-friendly option, though, for people actually watching.

So at the moment, we will have 3 men, 2 Women, 1 Pair team and 2 Ice Dance couples
We hope for 1 more spot in womens, pairs and ice dance.

^IIRC Paris and Matthew are just three hundreds of a point short of the SP mark, so fingers crossed they can nab it somewhere between now and the 4CC cutoff.

Jessica and Ryan have been skating as Juniors all season so I'm guessing 4CC isn't on their radar right now.

I'm watching the Livestream at the moment!

It's showing Intermediate skaters so no-one I know. Although they had a guy there from New Zealand! I didn't know we'd taken over NZ. ;)

Also there's like 6 guys competing in this Intermediate competition, but 36 girls in the Ladies one!

The Basic Novice A and B and Advanced Novice ladies are quite big fields.

So good!!!!
Technically very good. Ekaterina could not get the catch foot feature on their pair lift though.
Other than that, it was solid.

It's still early days for them, but I'm excited to see them become a true PAIR!!

Mixed news.

Because of bad luck for Russians, they are losing Polina Tsurskaya and Ekaterina Borisova/Dmitry Sopot (because of her injury)
So, 7th place took Ekaterina and Harley. I guess they will replace B/S in JGPF.

I wish health to Russian Katya and best of luck to Australian Katya with Harley in the Final.

CONGRATS to Alexandrovskaya/Windsor for making it to the JGPF!!! First Aussies at the Final?

Just took a look at the protocols for their short program. It seems that they have upgraded from the throw toe to the throw lutz. They are in serious contention for a medal at the Final! This is SO exciting! :yahoo::hap10::yes2:

Sad that Borisova/Sopot withdrew but sooo excited for Alexandrovskaya/Windsor making it to JGPF! (first time ever for Australia?) More of that please :agree:

Ekaterina was clearly not happy at how the judges seriously over scored their SP.
:D
She clearly has higher aspirations.

Internationally, if I were to score them, I would score them in the mid 50s.
They can make the top 16 at Worlds. And see if they can crack the top 6 at Four Continents.

Incredible work ethic and determination by both of them - fabulous to see. Just hope they can fix that Olympic issue fast !

Holly Harris leading after junior ladies short with 49.something points, roughly 9 points in the lead. Go Holly! :cheer:
