Figure Skating in Australia

True Karne - I think Min wiil give all the current senior men a shake up. It's great to see competition in the men's !

Pure speculation on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if James went around again as a Junior. He's only sixteen, and barely that. Nothing wrong with giving him another season - or even two - to build himself up to the Senior level. There's no pressure on him to rush up because we already have talented established Senior men, so he can ease himself in there and build his foundations properly.

Keen for the new international season to start!

If he includes the triple axel, James has the potential to medal in seniors at the national level.

Assuming he is senior eligible, my guess is that he will take the same path as Craine, Pasfield, and Friend / Badaoui, compete in both junior and senior nationally, junior in international championship competition, and maybe senior at Four Continents.

Does anyone know who got JGPs ?

The entry list for each JGP is released individually, at a set number of days before that JGP. There's no big masterlist like there is for Senior GP.

That said, here's a link to the ISA's website listing SOME of their JGP nominations.

Czech Skate:
Pair - Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor
(Sub – Jessica Rotondo / Ryan Dodds)

JGP Japan:
Men – James Min (Sub: Charlton Doherty)
Ladies – Katie Pasfield (Sub 1: Emma Carr / Sub 2: Yancey Chan)
Dance – Matilda Friend / William Badaoui (Sub: Jessica & Charlton)

JGP Russia:
Men – Giuseppe Triulcio (Sub: James Min)

JGP Estonia:
Men – James Thompson (Sub: Giuseppe Triulcio)
Ladies – Amelia Jackson (Sub 1: Holly Harris / Sub 2: Serena Xu)
Dance – Anastasia Ozerova & Nicholas McCreary (Sub: Matilda & William)
Pair – Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor (Sub: Jess & Ryan)

JGP Germany:
Men – Charlton Doherty (Sub: James Thompson)
Ladies – Holly Harris (Sub 1: Amelia Jackson / Sub 2: Lucy Sori Yun)
Dance – Jessica Palfreyman & Charlton Doherty (Sub: Courtney & Beau)
Pair – Jessica Rotondo / Ryan Dodds (Sub: Ekaterina & Harley)

So there you go. I am a bit surprised because I didn't realise Harley was still young enough for JGP - but then the man of a pair can be 21 as long as the lady is under 19 by July 1. Good to see both Harley and Ekaterina and Ryan and Jessica getting outings here. Looks like the love is being spread in the ice dance, as well. I see Charlton will be double-dipping, which is always an interesting challenge.

Please note that this list is not complete for all the JGPs.

Why did James Min only get Japan - seems odd

Because, as I noted in my post, not all of the JGPs have been assigned yet. There are seven and ISA's page lists only five (assuming Czech Skate is a JGP but just listed oddly).

It has just been announced that Brooklee Han has changed coaches and is now training with Peter and Darlene Cain in Texas.

This surprised me - I thought she was at school in her old town.

Still, she's clearly still got that fire, so that can only be a good thing.

Australia's Alexandrovskaya & Windsor are in 6th position (and a virtual three - way tie for third) after the pairs' short program at the ISU JGP of Ostrava.

Following their skate earlier today, they have also earned the pre - qualifying TES for the 2017 Four Continents, Junior & Senior World Championships short program competition segments.

My, there's an awful lot to like about this young couple. Sure, there are some areas that need improvement, but what a nice start to the season for a young couple!

Unfortunately this is not correct. ISU rules have changed. They have the scores for Junior Worlds but not 4CC or Worlds. To gain these tes for 4CC and Worlds they need to compete in ISU SENIOR international competitions. See ISU communication 2033.

However there is an excellent article I found for these guys. A must read Here is the link,
