Finnish Ladies Who Will be the 3 at Helsinki

The Finnish Ladies will be flying high next year, but we have four very good Finns who are all capable of winning next year in Helsinki. I want all four to go (Vahamaa, Korpi, Lepisto and Poykio) but of course only 3 will go to Euro's. I know its going to depend on points scores and Finnish Nationals but I would like to see:

Poykio
Korpi
Lepisto

to be present in Helsinki, I really love Vahmaa but time will be on her side and she can represent Finland at many other Euro's. I would just love Susanna to bow out on a high note by winning Euro's as she deserves it.

But who do you think the 3 would be?

I just hope that Kira Korpi's in it. She has such style, feminity and personnality it would be a shame to to have her. However, I feel like the only person who can't see anything special about Laura Lepistö's skating.

and Kira is also beautiful but skating can be inconsistent. I'm all for Lepisto and Poykio to keep Finland getting 3 skaters in the Olys.

btw, I also like and very much to see Vahamaa in seniors at some point.

I don't know who will make it but I hope to see Susanna Poykio representing Finland. She's wonderful to watch and really deserves it.

I really hope her back problem will not be chronic. Unlike Korpi and Lepisto she doesn't have any triple-triple combo but both Korpi's 3Lo-3Lo and Lepisto's 3T-3T aren't consistent enough to be regularly executed, so I think all these ladies, together with Vahamaa, have more or less equally good chance (bar injury.)

I really hope that Susanna will be there! And can't stand the idea that somebody of the four has to step aside. Personally, I love Laura's and Jenni's skating more than Kiira's but I don't want her to drop out either. Ugh. The Nationals in Helsinki will be too exciting!

I feel it will be the same as this years Euros, meaning Poykio is out. She wasnt in good shape at all this season and she's now in the "declining" stage of her career while the other three just keep improving. It would be a real shame though, since she basically gained those spots for her federation.

But let's lok at the bright side, Finland is slowly but surely becoming a ladies skating powerhouse!!

All I hope for next season is that for once someone from Finland skates a clean LP with all planned triples, either in Europeans or Worlds. Is that too much to ask?

Susanna skated one or two clean LPs before the COP era, but that was too long ago.

How many multi skaters from other countries actually accomplish that? The CoP era changed a lot of peoples predictions.

Jenni Vähämaa nearly skated a clean LP at Finlandia Trophy. It was great! I hope she will continue to improve. The tailbone injury she had last year at Europeans made her too hesitant and she couldn't do the triple flip or lutz. But she has them and has already performed them in the competitions, unlike Laura. Sigh. I only hope Laura will have 3-flip, lutz or both ready next year. Then she could be a real contender for the brightest medals.

I'm very worried about Susanna Pöykiö's injury. She's 26. Will she recover? I hope so much she could compete in Helsinki Europeans.

Kiira has been too inconsistent during the last seasons. Maybe she has had her LP for too long time. Next year it's an another story with the new LP.

I've never heard of Korpi doing a 3Lo/3Lo. I remember her doing a 3T/3T once, though.

Lepisto has landed her 3T-3T many times this year, hasn't she?

The Finnish sports commentators have seriously over-emphasized the importance of triple-triples. In the SP it is important as it gives you an extra triple jump, but there's no point in taking a risk in the LP if you're only planning to do five or six triples in total and you have seven jumping passes.

In the Europeans, when Lepistö missed her 3t-3t in the short and did it in the LP, the TV commentators were ecstatic and somehow seemed to believe that it was smart of her to "save" it for the big occasion. :ohwell:
