Four Continents site is up

Wow! I just heard that four continents will be here in my hometown! It would be cool to attend. Any other GS Vancouverites going?

Love the new look as well.

Since Vancouver is close I'm thinking about driving up from Seattle. Anyone else going?

I wish! It'd be a great figure skating get away - but Disney World took my monies this year.

I'm not sure how Federations select their skaters to this major competition. Since all the Nationals have been completed by now, will the top three results automatically go to 4CC?

Given the closeness of three of the disciplines in the America, I believe the USFS will divide the Worlds and 4CC with different skaters after the results of its Nationals.

For the Ladies: I think if Zhang wins, Rachael will be added to the Worlds' team. That leaves Mirai, Ashley Bebe, Alyssa and Kimmie for the 4CC selection.

Note: The above is just an iffy example; not a prediction.

Most of the 4CC Nationals have not taken place yet (Japan is this week, while Canadians is the week before U.S. Nationals in January '09). The top 3 results from Nationals do not automatically go to 4CC.

That remains to be seen. I don't know what USFS' International Committee will choose to do this year, but the usual procedure is to offer 4CC to the top placing (age-eligible) finishers in senior and, if anyone declines, continue to go down the list of results until all 3 spots in each discipline are filled.

Agreed, but is that 'list' based on the outcome of the Nats or are other factors taken into consideration?

Yes, 'list' meaning 2009 Nationals senior results. It's up to the skaters to decide whether or not they want to compete at 4CC so soon after Nationals.
