Here is a very short Q&A with Frank Carroll, from the Milwaukee Sentinel, 8/15/07. His response regarding Michelle Kwan is interesting: "..She's going to UCLA and getting her degree..." I wonder if this means that she transferred back to UCLA and has left Denver. He also said that MK "...is getting on with her life and has no intention, at the moment, of doing anything in skating..." Here's the link:

I think some things were taken out of context. I believe Michelle IS back on the ice, but obviously not participating in shows or competitions. And I also think she's taking summer classes at UCLA so that she can return to Denver in the fall as a Junior. There have been a couple interviews this summer in which Michelle has said she is skating again, not ruling out competing in the future. I can't recall where I heard it, but it was a taped interview, with Michelle's voice, not a magazine article.

What I would love: Michelle and Frank are secretly working together and in the 2008-09 season, she'll be back on the circuit with Frank as her coach!

I can dream...

From the Q&A as printed, I would think Kwan is happily getting on with her life without figure skating. To be back in LA for the Summer gives her time with her family and friends including Frank.

Anything else is for me, speculation, and that's always a wait and see.

Well here is my Kwanspiracy theory. Michelle has dinner with Frank, they are old friends yada, yada, yada. She inquires about his availability for the 2008-9 season and the possibility of his coaching into the Olympic season, but she is not inquiring for herself but for someone else who she feels could be a gold medal contender in 2010. To be continued........

. . . Or perhaps, she was inquiring whether they could coach as a team. Michelle is too busy and feels unprepared to coach that level on her own, so she goes to Frank . . . oh, the fun of high stakes conspiratorial speculation . . .
