So happy for Tessa and Scott!
They may not have won the gold (of course) but they were the highlight of the competition.

I agree -- up to a point. I'm a huge fan of Khoklova & Novitski and like them much better than I do Domnina & Shabalin, but I really do feel they were overscored in the FD. It's been one of my favorite FD's of the season, but on this occasion they were stiff (if one can EVER refer to Ms. Khoklova as "stiff"), on the slow side, and Sergei almost hit the wall. I think it was definitely their weakest performance of the season, and they've gotten lower scores in the past for skating MUCH better. I too think that they were bumped up a bit score-wise to compensate for the absence of D & S. Who, by the way, I did not miss AT ALL.
The actually DANCE part of it, however, notably the footwork sections, were not top-flight material. These were sloppy and very, very slow compared to the other top teams. They need to work on the dance side of things, or I fear they will not surpass their favoured countrymen.
On another note -- was I the only one who thought the whole thing with the Zaretskys was funny?? I am referring to Alexandra and Roman informing the ISU that the proper spelling of their name was ZaretSKY and not ZaretSKI, only to be informed by the ISU that "No, that's not how you spell it, we're gonna spell it with an I". Leave it to the ISU, under their current highly arrogant leadership, to try and tell people how their own names should be spelled.....:sheesh::sheesh:
One thing I haven't seen mentioned here yet....
Did you guys catch as V/M were leaving the K&C, Scott call out "Go Tanith and Ben!!"?
Yes, I know they're clubmates and are friends, but we've seen clubmates skate after each other before and nothing like that happen. I thought that was a great thing for Scott to do and very classy as well.![]()
What!?!
Unless I missed that, I don't think (as I didn't hear anything about this before now) that was mentioned on any of the Canadian coverage this week. Sigh...Just when you think it can't sink any lower, the ISU does just that..
This judging panel helps me see how Khoklova & Novitski shot up the rankings so quickly.
Ms. Alla SHEKHOVTSEVA Russia
Ms. Raia BISSEROVA-BAKALOVA Bulgaria
Ms. Laimute KRAUZIENE Lithuania
Ms. Anne SARASKIN Estonia
Ms. Heide MARITCZAK Austria
Mr. Laurent CARRIERE France
Ms. Katalin ALPERN Italy
Ms. Mieko FUJIMORI Japan
Mr. Hongguo REN China
Mr. Charles Z. CYR United States
Ms. Jodi ABBOTT Canada
Ms. Hilary SELBY Great Britain
I googled the Russian judge and her name came up in an article entitled, "The dirt on ice dancing".
This is all I need to know! You can use any judging system you want, but unfortunately, the judging panel seems to be just as important as the actual skating. It makes me sad.
I bet they even put something on the Ice so Tanith could fall and paidTessa some money to screw her twizzle
Ohh the conspiracy!

LOL and with that panel they still managed to rank 5TH in the FD even behind the Italians.I bet they even put something on the Ice so Tanith could fall and paidTessa some money to screw her twizzle
Ohh the conspiracy!
Well, congratulations you finally found an excuse so you can believe there actually was some evil cheating:agree:
I find it so funny that people can still suggest that there is judging which is pro-Russian when the judges were trying to push up B/A's FD score so that they might be able to medal.
In fact, I don't think the judges tried to help K/N at all in the competition..This judging panel helps me see how Khoklova & Novitski shot up the rankings so quickly.
Ms. Katalin ALPERN Italy
What makes me sad is people who start throwing around conspiracy theories in figure skating politics based on very little understanding of the real politics. I guess you are not aware of the cold relations between the Baltic States (Especially Estonia) and Russia?
It´s so disgusting to read here the stupid conspiracy theories. How could you be so unsporty? Relax and enjoy all good performances without nationalism.
finally got the patience to watch all programs on ESPN.
N/B - good nothing wow-material
Z/Z - i like the music
C/L - my new favourites! i love the opening and closing. that illegal hold on a lift...stupid rule. they physically look like V/M-ish right? i'll be watching for this team
P/B- more use of the straight jackets! they need a swiss spin coach haha and as recommended by lambiel, swiss chocolate. (i cant believe i still remember that fluff)
K/N- i love all their lifts and thats it.
D/S - parfait.
F/S - i kinda like the music and their final lift. interesting "butterfly" costumes to support theme
V/M - overrated OR their style just doesn't cut through me, they are fantastic skaters - technically and artistically, but ok....smile on....
B/A - great performance - not a big fan of the hold on the first part of their final combo lift and of course...their smiling
