Free Dance

Anyone think that if B/A hadn't fallen in the CD, that they would have scored higher in the OD and the FD and might have ended up 2nd overall.

I just finished watching CCTV.
OMG. V/M are sooooooooo lovely!! I held my breath while watching them.
D/S were pretty impressive too.
I feel sorry for B/A. It was so close...

Anyway, congrats to V/M!!!!!:clap::clap:

Tanith and Ben's program does nothing for me. I really believed and felt the emotion of the French and Canadians. Tanith and Ben just don't project that.

So happy for Isabelle and Olivier, they so deserved this.

I'm the opposite. I feel the emotion from Tanith and Ben that I don't feel from the Canadians. But I do believe it was going to be one or the other on the podium. Somehow the Russians, who've never really been in the medal picture at Worlds, were suddenly going to become World beaters with D/S withdrawing. :frown2:

I was "listening" to the international commentary and one woman said that while B/A are incredibly mature, polished and beautiful skaters that this particular piece of music doesn't grab you and that it's not a piece to really capture a major world title with.

B/A are not my emotional favorites but my goodness my heart was breaking for Tanith and Ben in the KnC - we sometimes forget how relatively young they still are. Tanith's only 23. I hope they realize that it's not over for them yet.

This is certainly one of those change in the world order leading into the Olympics kind of year. Wow!!! This is happening in all the disciplines.

Ahhhhh V/M! You rock my socks!

Ben said "I just don't understand" or something like that, in the K&C.

Tanith sarcastically said, "That's what we get for our creative presentation".

Ben said, "I just don't understand it" and then he shook his head and said, "They just don't understand it", meaning it was too complex in meaning for the judges to understand.

hmmm... well, the fact that the French and Canadians were 1st and 2nd shows other teams that the judges are looking for a "story" on the ice.

A couple of years ago, at least at the europeans, if a skater from a certain country finsihed 1st or 2nd, that country would get three spots for the next year. This doesn't apply anymore??

What kind of "story" were the top 3 telling? I don't mind the top 2, but I'm wondering how the 2nd ranked Russian team conveniently rocketed up the standings as D/S withdrew. Oh well, it's ice dance.

Wow. If that's what she said, I am quite disappointed. Whether the judges "got" the FD or not, where does she place the blame for being so far behind going in?
