Crown and Poirier were lovely, but I guess that doesn't count.

That's why it's called ICE-DANCE. Nobody really knows what really counts. And then at some point you think you understood something: the twizzles - they are important! But in the next competition one couple totally screws them up, still wins with huge marks and positive GOE on the twizzles and you are back to :scratch:Crown and Poirier were lovely, but I guess that doesn't count.

That must be it.Maybe the judges saw something we didn't. For the most part, most of us are watching from a tv or computer screen and not live on ice front and center.
No I don't believe they were boosted at all. The dance itself was faster and smoother than Nats and they got a 94 there. As well, even though there were stumbles they weren't anything major. She put a foot down during the combo spin and she somewhat stumbled going into the diagonal sequence. But overall if you look at the program and it's difficulty they didn't really hinder the performance quality. So no, I think they deserved the scores that they got.
Weaver and Poje just blew me away! Amazing! I love how Shae-Lynn and their other coach were making the same hilarious movements as they were watching their students skate and how they laughed about it afterwards. I must admit, I do like seeing the coaches reactions almost as much as I love watching the skating.
North America ice dancers RULE!!
I noticed Tessa took off her skates immediately in the K&C. It looked to me like she was in pain. I hope she's not pushing too hard too soon. It must be so frustating for her.
They are seriously gathering momentum here. Am I the only one who thinks they could win the World Championship (if it is fairly judged)?
I watched the CBC broadcast, and it was reported that right after Tessa left the K&C, she walked straight to the doctor's office, bypassing all the reporters. She then said in a later interview that it was nothing too serious and that she just needed some ice to relieve the pain.
I think that in a fairly judged Worlds, D/W at this point will need other teams to have serious problems just to medal, let alone win. They're a good team but there are others who are better at this point, IMO.Only if others are so injured that they aren't at their best. If everyone skates their best and worlds is "fairly" judged (whatever that means, since "fair" seems to mean different things to different people), than Davis/White at their best shouldn't even come close to touching Delobel/Schoenfelder or Virtue /Moir at their best. It would probably be over after the compulsory dance.Originally Posted by Tinymavy15 They are seriously gathering momentum here. The best way to look at it is to see what happened last year and try to figure the likelihood of D/W being able to do better than the team in question. So:
1. Del/Schoe: not a chance, unless Isabel doesn't recover from her surgery in time.
2. V/M: D/W just proved they can do it, but V/M were not near 100% at 4CC. So this would depend on what kind of shape they'll be in next month. If they're healthy - I can't see D/W finishing ahead.
3. K/N: absolutely not.
4. B/A: possible, but not likely.
5. F/S: definitely possible, and quite likely.
On the other hand, if Dom/Shab are there, you have to figure the judges will score them higher than D/W (even if many fans feel otherwise). Also, the two teams that finished right behind D/W last year are doing very well - P/B have improved since their disappointing performance at Skate Canada and have a very strong FD, and John and Sinead are finally getting some love from the judges.
So I think that realistically, D/W could finish anywhere from 4th the 7th - and might be able to contend for the bronze, but not unless others do badly.
