Agafanova really slipped down this year from last

Madison CHOCK / Greg ZUERLEIN USA
1 90.44

Coaches: Shpilband & Zoueva

Phantom of the Opera

He is all in black with a vee neck and blousy sleeves. She has a ruffly white nylon nightie looking dress with 2 floppy loops on the shoulders

I see no reason this should score less than at JGPF

Pair spin in a Sasha spin position on the reverse and comes out in a split and up

Skid into an arabesque like D&W do in FD (Meryl better)

Lift she's slung over his shoulder than 2 more abduction poses

Nice move with her leaned back over his knee

She tugs him up from knees
He spins her around

She steps onto his knee in a Sasha spin position

Squat spread eagle leaning back into twizzles FAB

f/w in and out of holds

End

Very difficult and well skated

82.11 Total 172.55 (1st)

Well the Hubbells more than likely in 2nd place after that mistake on the exit of that straight line lift

But they are a joy to watch

Madison HUBBELL / Keiffer HUBBELL USA
2 84.83

Coach: Netchaeva

Sogniami

She has a dark brown bra and a painted dress of green, yellow and brown pastel fading into each other. He has brown pants, v necck long sleeved top brown edge to neckline, rest painted in her colors

Twizzles out of synch

Speedy

He's crouched and she's in a hair cutter

Great lift lying back with him the one on top

Low low hydroblading move, her on top

Lots of kick kick twizzle Netchaeva footwork well done.

He couldn't hold the edge on the arabesque lift wobbly

76.51 points total 161.34 into 2nd

That was a bit shaky from the Hubbells, which is shame as I vastly prefer them to C/Z. Lovely moves, though.

Maia SHIBUTANI / Alex SHIBUTANI USA
4 81.81

Coaches: Shpilband & Zoueva

Cinema Paradiso

She is the light purple simple dress. He in darker purple peasant cut blouse with black pants. her hairs in a bun, looks a bit older

Partial standing O

Unison excellent

Very very fast twizzles with interesting arm movements. Top Notch.

Long glide on a back edge by Alex in a lift, into a split by Maia down low.
Right into their pair spin which is to the music

One foot by Alex on the rotational lift

Total 162.75 points and into 2nd place!

What's with the costumes of the Russians - I was so startled, I spilled potato-soup all over my desk...

Sad for the Hubbells. I think they are much better than the Shibutanis at this point in time. :(

Ekaterina PUSHKASH / Dmitri KISELEV RUS
5 80.74

Coaches: Svinin and Zhuk

Scheherazade (sung pieces and techno pieces)

She's in harem pants tied at the knee with a little skirt. So is he, but without the skirt

She falls in the twizzle sequence

Lots of bent knees and bent back wristy arm movements a la the Middle East

Lot of work getting into position for a yoga ish roational lift. Too much setup

Much better than earlier in the season. Too bad they don't have another couple weeks on this.

I think a bit slower than previous pairs.

Spin has middle East character, a good thing

There was a very clunky turn that I don't think was intentional, but wasn't part of an element.

69.47 total 150.21 into 5th

As much as I hate to say and to see it - I think this should be a US-podium sweep.

25 Ekaterina RIAZANOVA / Jonathan GUERREIRO RUS
3 82.82

Coaches; Elena Kustarova, Svetlana Alexeeva

007 Suite;
Golden Eye; ( James Bond)

He all in black with silvery spangly starbursts
She has tall black boots and a dark red dress. One arm red, one not. Large section of one side bitten off by shark and replaced with illusion fabric.

Lots of gun hands and sneaking in first part. If you can't have fun in a jr FD, when can you. Lots of personality. They were perhaps careful, and there was a little stumble in the last F/w sequence.

Really nice rotational lift with change.

Gun firing sounds.

They had good unison in the OD, but the first f/w sequence is not choreographed to emphasize that they have it.

I like them very much, but I am not sure where this will score..

FD 78.98 total 161.80 into 3rd.

Son of a gun!

The Shib sibs win silver, and the Hubbells don't medal again.
