Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Why do you say she is the sports psychologist? I think that's Catherine Pinard, who is listed as one of their coaches on their isu bio. I think she is the performance coach (as in arts performance)

Well, actually I got it from Maya so she can tell us how she knows. Now you're talking about Catherine Pinard, you might be right, she does look like her.

MelDee. your sleuthing is always better than mine! Apologies Cocotaffy- your re right: it's definitely the sports psychologist/personal performance coach.

Haha! I was puzzled just as you were when I saw her yesterday. The Gadbois Team Instagram just made it a whole lot easier to find out

Actually, I was surprised a mental coach is allowed in the K&C. I thought only coaches and choreographers are. But I'm all for the psychological support, they'll need it this season.

Hmmm, I just watched a video of her speaking. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br8y4z7CbEw&t=363s) I'm not convinced......... Plus I agree with peeps quick, this is the most nervous I've ever seen them look during a free skate.

I thought, too, they were a bit nervous today. More than at CoC, for example. The pressure was definitely there. I thought Gabby was slightly trembling before the music started playing. She also seemed quite nervous while awaiting their scores. And the signs and look they gave their mental coach, something was up today.
But never mind that. The free dance is just amazing and it keeps getting better and better. It left me speechless, amazed and extremely happy for their achievements!

On cloud nine! Especially because people thought I was exaggerating in my earlier posts!! 21 10s in PCS is just the start, my friends!! This is even greater than Bolero as will be seen at the Olys! P/C are simply the greatest ice dancers of all time! T/D are a distant second, and V/M, sorry to say, are nowhere on the map.

I'm definitely coming more around to loving P/C's FD on an emotional level.

From the very beginning, the choreography is gorgeous and beautiful to look at. The more I've watched it over the season, and linger with it, you really start to pick up on the emotional nuances that are so seamlessly woven in. Even the way Cizeron just looks at Gabby is so beautifully acted.

I also wonder if it just seems so much better simply by virtue of comparison to V/M's FD, which looks so tacky and melodramatic next to P/C. I mean, Moulin Rogue can never compete with Beethoven in terms of quality of music--especially when you have skaters like P/C as its vehicle to express it. Add to that V/M's over-acting, their ugly crotch lift, Scott's gray track-suit...and it's like comparing Kinkade to Monet

Great photo that Gabriella just retweeted: https://twitter.com/europeonice/status/931944138127310850 I do love how friendly they seem to be with so many of their competitors :).

ETA: Guillaume really looks like he stepped out of/belongs in a classic painting there...
Beautiful picture! The top comment when I looked:https://twitter.com/BootlegSkating/status/931946161019203584
Those two would make an incredibly beautiful couple!! I have a whole fleet going for them all of a sudden :love:

I don't think they really act their tenderness and love for each other. The looks they give each other, not only during the skating but also before and after, are so mesmerizing and deep...
A basic premise of acting is that you cannot convincingly play something that you don't are, and the love they show for each other is so genuine and omnipresent that I cannot believe they need to make any effort to show it. It may even be that during their performances, they can express a part of themselves that cannot be expressed in real life?

For me, their sublime expression of a very deep love is one of the main ingredients of their X-factor (if not THE main reason for it). When I first watched them, and over and over and over again, I became convinced that they were a couple, because the bond between them is obviously so deep, it's clearly beyond what most married couples experience!
Whenever I showed their FDs to someone, very quickly the question "are they a couple?" came up. Because it is so obvious, their connection is so dominantly present and adding to the enchantment.
Of course, when I first got to see an interview with them, I understood, but I cannot refute my sensing that there is a deep and tragic love between them which creates a huge part of their special atmosphere and the electrifying tension that pulls all of us into their performance with such a force that it reaches to the core of our being.

Yes, they seemed much more nervous than in China. But the good news is that it hardly effected their skating! It seems that their mastery of their FD is already of such a level that even under visible pressure, they deliver the goods flawlessly!
That's a great confidence boost for the GPF, where some V/M fans are now predicting nerve collapse as the final straw of hope for a V/M victory...

And yes, I clearly live in a different time zone than the rest of you...:gaah:

Just got caught up with the videos from last night, and I'm so over the moon with their performance (and scores!). It's really wonderful to see dances that genuinely change and grow each time they're performed - in content as well as in interpretation, even if the content changes are comparatively small. Just like the SD had an increased Latin-y feel for me, the FD had more power and snap in the middle section than I remember from previous versions, and I thought it contrasted really well with the slower beginning and ending and brought a stronger sense of structure to the whole routine (not that it didn't have structure before, but this made it more visible/processable).

I might just go and watch it again now...

First time I can remember that I am fond of a pair which I cannot pronounce or spell their last names correctly. Love what they put out there. Anyone else have the same problem?

Agree 100%, there was so much more intensity and speed in the Presto, which was lacking before. So they'll keep working on that for sure. It is the hardest part because of that crazy tempo, but after the spins they really went for it.
Here is the CBC coverage with the infamous Carol Lane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9tXkNb-yt0 and a little comparison between them and V/M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Narhpo-Aofw
