Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

:ghug::ghug::ghug: to Gabriella, Guillame and all their fans;;;;; Why does that have to happen at the Oly Games? :sad4:

However, it's not over yet. We've already seen Aliona/Bruno's out-of-this-world free skate, remember? :) Let's stay hopeful , cheer for them:cheer: and send them only positive vibes tomorrow! :hap85:

Gaby and Guillaume have shown us such talent, such strength of character, that I am convinced of their universal recognition tomorrow.
What a magnificent performance, when we think of the incredible inconvenience that occurred from the beginning. In this context, I am stunned by an SD of Gaby and Guillaume both in total abandonment for the goal, and in total mastery to contain the incident.
A click occurred at the 2017 WC FD in Helsinky; Since then, each of their performances has been a treat for us, for all lovers of ice dancing and beauty. I do not remember a competition without standing ovation of the public subjugated by so much technique and grace nested.
Since the Helsinky FD, they have advanced their main rivals to the FD, twice in joint competition (WC2017, GPF2017), twice, at a distance, at the GP 2017.
Shortest gap: 1.76 points, largest difference: 2.96 points.
I know, the statistics are not Ice Dance ... but it's still nice to see.
Gaby and Guillaume, make tomorrow what you want most in your art and your sport; share a unique, intense, magical moment. The public, the world will be upset, and Olympus will recognize you.

It seems like the skating Gods are against them here. The FD draw is awful & her dress error combined are worrying.
I need some help here to feel positive. V/M score was way too high. I just get the feeling that they will have to score a WR score & hope that the judges don't go nuts for V/M.
I love how some cry fix if G/G win but don't now V/M are getting mind blowing scores that don't add up with how the season has gone it's all good. There is a fix going on here but not in favour of G&G...................

My heart broke...

But never give up! Their program this year is simply a masterpiece and it should not be silver because of this horrible accident.
Judges love this program.
If they can dominate the game at 4th draw, the victory will be in their hands although the possibility may be low considering scoring system of ID. But they can do. Their aura, their techniques.. Im sure they can dominate the game.
They have overcome so many things so far. Gabi's injury, last year's struggle... I believe in them, believe in their magical moment.

Very weird that it never happens to them but just here at the Olympics. Weird that her staff didn't check that. Where is the French Fed?

I know what it is! Marie-France deliberately sabotaged them! :rolleye:

Their coaches tried to prevent the malfunction, Gaby had the collar sewed up before the warm-up. Sometimes it's just a matter of bad luck.

I am disappointed, desperate. :(

It's bad luck and I wonder if they will come up. Their mental coach must really work well with them. gaby said it was her worst nightmare :rolleye:
Martin please come give your advice to bounce back after a failure and give hugs.

There must have been some practice time this afternoon. I hope they could focus right back in the game and take solace in the fact her FD costume cannot play trick on her at least.

Article from the WSJ about the event: https://www.wsj.com/articles/french...ume-malfunction-canadians-overtake-1519024817

Most of it's behind a paywall, but someone at FSU excerpted a couple of key quotes, and one is Marie-France Dubreil confirming that they did everything possible to keep that collar in place:

Marie-France Dubreuil, a coach to Papadakis and Cizeron, said the costume had been snapped and sewn shut but must have come undone at the top during an early move. She said she turned to another of the couple’s coaches, Romain Haguenauer, and wondered what they should do, but realized the couple would lose a significant number of points for stopping the performance to correct the problem and likely fewer by toughing it out.

It really was just the most ridiculous bit of stupid bad luck. Time to stop, take a breath, then make like Elsa and let it go, and move on to the Free Dance. :)

You're trying to ridicule me but the fact is that one of this team's top skater had a very stupid, avoidable "dress malfunction". Bit bad for this team's image, no?

If you want to talk about that lady, please go to the appropriate forum. This thread is about Papadakis and Cizeron. :sarcasm:

Who sewed it? It's not normal to sew a costume during warmup.

Basically, there was an issue and they had to sew it, but it did not hold.

That's okay, as Harriet said : let's move on, they are much more than a wardrobe malfunction. Best skating skills of the field is what I'm going to focus on :clapper:

They certainly were not lucky today and so didn´t get their SB scores. After all they truly still have a chance for gold because their FD is a huge outstanding masterpiece. I believe their performance tomorrow will be magnificent.

Martin please come give your advice to bounce back after a failure and give hugs.

I do hope they take the Martin Fourcade approach, get proper angry and skate lights out tomorrow. I don't care about placements or scores, I just want them to give the world a performance to remember.

Exactly, and I'd like some news about their practice as I'm sure that must have had one before tomorrow morning or am I wrong ? Wouldn't be the first time  I've just realized I might have interpreted those green and yellow bubbles wrongly on another FS site I was sure it was about level being under review or not but apparently not. I'm decidedly all confused today. I can't wait for those Olympics to be over, it's making me cranky.

These SD will be magnificient at Worlds. Bad luck happens, can't control it. They'll have their SD World record.

Exactly what I thought. He's so respected in France for this reason, he hates loosing BUT always deliver even if he has to die for it. I'm sure they'll have that approach.
