Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

I agree. As Charlie White said after Gabriella and Guillaume's FD at Worlds 2016, watching them skate is like experiencing a work of art. You just don't want it to end. In the arena, people are hushed. And that transporting quality comes right through the tv too.

P/C may wake many new people up to what figure skating really is, at its best.... the transfer of genuine emotion from skaters to audience.

I totally agree!

Rumor has it on the Russian forums their new FD is to Moonlight Sonata (same source says V/M's is to Moulin Rouge)

Grain of salt etc.

If it's moonlight sonata, they'll have another G&G big shoes to fill. They would go back to classical music recapturing the Mozart feeling. Could be interesting. Let's see if it comes true. Guillaume also posted a quote from a Leonard Cohen song, could it be a hint ? Even though they don't leave clues usually.

ooh, I can imagine Gabriella and Guillaume to Moonlight Sonata, it would be captivating and good for the Olympic audience to already know the music.

It's a rumor ... 2 years ago, they had to skate on a tango (the rumor was false:laugh:). But I like this rumor, I imagine them well on Beethoven
I do not think that Gabriella or Guillaume give us clues ... they will wait until the last moment to reveal their music to us:)

We should discover a new gala program in a few days (fantasy on ice)

Do you have a link to these threads? Would be very interesting to read! Moonlight Sonata seems a little too classical for them but I think P/C music choices would be the most difficult to guess out of all of Ice dance.

Moonlight Sonata would definitely be in their wheelhouse, but I have to agree that it almost seems too safe, too predictable. I don't doubt they would make it brilliant and magical, but it's just a super unoriginal, super safe choice imo. And even though Marie-France adores Gordeeva and Grinkov, I don't think she would agree to this and go ahead with this choice because Gaby and Guillaume would face countless comparisons to G and G, which she must be aware of. A choice like this seems almost against P/C's ideology of coming up with something unexpected and subverting stereotypes of the sport - I think they'll continue in the innovative vein. Even if they pick a classical piece as their Olympic music, they'll pick something less known, something no one has done before in figure skating. Unless Gaby and Guillaume make an announcement, I refuse to believe any sort of rumours of their music picks (esp. when the information comes from Russian forums).

On a different note - Gaby and Guillaume are on their way to Japan. Gotta say, it's an awful lot of travelling for them these days!

I think the only moment that was equal for me with the worlds free skate this season (and it's not actually a skate) was Mao's retirement. It will be interesting to see what he places above their free skate.

Given who he's already done and the fact that he's not repeating skaters, it'll include Hanyu (probably his Worlds FS), Nathan Chen (maybe the 5 quads at Nationals), Sui/Han, Virtue/Moir (I assume Worlds SD), and probably Javi and Shoma and someone else (Alina???).

I had that FD in my top five when I predicted his top ten.

Maybe show staff chose 'O Sole Mio as usual at FaOI. But that program was amazingly great, almost choreography based on the past programs -2015-2016SD, for example. And Gabriella also wore the dress of 2015-2016SD. StaLt was fabulous!
Pray you catch me - Soooo romantic but heartbreaking choleography, it its the best their gala program for me. Deeply mooved.

FaOI Kobe will be broadcast today in Japan. Japanese fan may upload it soon!

The last spin is a reworking of the choreographic lift at the end of the 2014 FS,

Oh yes it's true.:)I had forgotten
It may be the camera but I find them very light on the ice, very aerial (more than usual)
I would like to see the second program

I wasn't really sold on O Sole Mio at first, but having watched it a couple more times it grew on me, it's a lovely piece. As maya1985 pointed out, they approach this one with such lightness and polish that goes nicely with the music. The choreography draws on some of their previous work but I think it's understandable considering the amount of new movements they probably had to learn for the show. But I'm now also anxious to see the second EX number, hopefully a video of that will surface sooner or later.

Just like you icetigger, that SD at Cup of Russia is a bit of my guilty pleasure  It was so bad, such a horrible moment for them, but it's precisely what made them work harder and become stronger. Let's hope that history won't repeat itself next season during the Europeans in Moscow!
