Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

In that Paris Match interview, Gabriella explains how they keep their lives really separate outside the rink and I think this is the key of their successful relationship. It also resonates even more with their FD this year. Ice rink is their special home and outside is another life. I wonder if most ice dance teams do the same. They definitely found each other and are complementary in the best way.
BTW, welcome back @alain06fr, it has been a while since your last post. Did you take time to recover from all the emotions experienced in Boston ?

haha yes I recovered! Thanks! I actually went to Marseille for the French Tour and I really enjoyed it even if it's quite different from the Europeans and Worlds. I could see the arena hosting the Grand-Prix Final 2016.

Of course, their unique relationship is for sure part of their success. They are so serene together. There was already a long interview of Guillaume in l'Equipe last year on the same topic. Now, it's Gabriella interviewed by Paris Match. It's really interesting to understand how they grew and built their carrier and their success together. Now, I just hope Gabriella and Guillaume don't find some questions too intrusive in their private life. Both have the right to have their secret garden.

A new artical from a local regional newspapers during the french tour. May be someone could translate in english (mine is not good enough..)

It's a short interview, we starting to get a better picture of those two with all those little interviews here and there.

What motivates you ?
GP: We like the competition and our sport. Every year is a new beginning.
GC: Our sport and the work accomplished all year long.

What are your best assets ?
GP: the FD and the fact we've known each other for so long, 11 years already, much longer that the other couples, it's a real asset.
GC: And we love innovating and creating. With the added advantage of sharing a common history.

What does touring with the French team bring you ?
GP: it's neither vacation nor training. We experience it like a parenthesis in our career.
GC: It's a change from our everyday life. We get to meet the next generation of skaters. It's important.

Did Gabriella's concussion scare you thinking your career could end there ?
GP: I'm even more motivated than before and this accident made me realize how important my career was to me.
GC: I was not scared, I stayed confident. Gabriella didn't fall from the 3rd floor of a building. To be honest, falls are rather common in our sport.

Do you think about what you'll do after skating and in which area?
GP: Yes, I think about it but for the moment, I'm dedicated to my career and I do whatever I can so that it lasts.
GC: I've always wanted to be a stylist and I always draw costumes. I'm thinking working in that sector.

What advice would you give to young skaters ?
GP: to have passion and to live for it
GC: as long as you're passionate, you have to persevere.

I don't know if this video has been posted. It's an interview after 2014 worlds. They are shy :). The journalist asked their goal for next season, Gabriella said they want to improve, they hope not to disappoint anyone..

So amazing to see how much their physical appearance completely changed when they moved to Montréal. On this video, they look like teenagers, so different compared to now. Their move to Montréal was a benefit in so many ways.

Hello everyone. First time poster here  Need somewhere to talk about my overwhelming love for Gabriella and Guillaume. My favourite skaters since Jayne and Chris,

Well, you're at the right place. Welcome, I'm not an old poster either and it's Gabriella and Guillaume who pulled me out of my lurker status. I had to come and talk about them too :luv17:

Hello everyone. First time poster here  Need somewhere to talk about my overwhelming love for Gabriella and Guillaume. My favourite skaters since Jayne and Chris,

Welcome on board :-) Same as for cocotaffy, I used to surf on the site in the past. Now, watching Gabriella and Guillaume on the ice is just so cracking and great that I decided to become member and share my passion. This young couple is just so unique in the ice dance world. I am a big fan of ballet, operas and modern dance so it was so obvious to me to share my feelings on this message board. Gabriella and Guillaume's programs go beyond ice dance, it's a dive into a world made of pure art, creativity, renewal, elegance, class, fluidity, true emotions, fun and love. It's just like they bring a third dimension to ice dance.

Thank you. I will try my best to be a contributor and not just a lurker :)

Happy birthday Gabriella ! :hb:

Here is a new French article : http://www.macommune.info/article/g...ur-etre-different-et-creer-de-emotions-143151
It took place in Besançon last May 6th, during the French team tour.
A quick translation (sorry in advance for the mistakes ! :)) :

Gabriella Papadakis : "We are working to be different and create emotions".

The Besançon ice rink was completely full on Friday 6 May to welcome a dozen skaters from the French team. On the ice the energic and modern show brougth together skaters like Brian Joubert or Gabriella Papadakis (20 years old) and Guillaume Cizeron (21 years old) that became world champions for the 2nd time last March 31th in Boston.

Question : Could you tell us what has been your career during the 10 last years ?
Guillaume : We began to skate very young, and it is Gabriella's mother, our coach, who made us try to skate together. It worked immediatly. We were 9 and 10 years old when we began to skate together. We have known each other since 12 years now...

Question : When did you begin to believe that you could have such a career as the one you have now ?
Gabriella : I think that our coaches and other people around us began to believe in it before us. We started to believe so 3 or 4 yeas ago when we began to have very good results as junior competitors. We thought that it could be possible to have good results too while competing in senior category.

Question : is it not difficult to mix pleasure and work when you are 20 years old ?
Guillaume : No, it is always a different and interesting work, more and more in an artistic way. To learn many things about us helps us to push our limits. We have got a wonderful team, so it is great. It means sacrifices, but it is the life we have choosen for the moment.

Question : You are revitalizing ice danse. Are you aware of this ?
Gabriella : Yes, of course we are working to be different and create emotions. And we are working the best we can to achieve this.
