Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron | Page 72 | Golden Skate

Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

they're one. they move the same way,
so much in ID skaters protrayed love but they go deeper in their choice like for their music . people complained about their program being the same it couldn't be more wrong.

Yes I agree, it's not all about romantic programs, otherwise the Shibs would never be on the podium ever !
I mean the "Build a home" is purely about friendship, and it's one of my favourite program EVER. This year's FD is pure emotion but it's not about the romance. And yet Mozart brought the romance big time.
Their programs are not the same : love with mozart, friendship with Build a home, and this year : Emotions and... I don't know how to explain really, and I don't care, it was so awesome.

You can be an awesome skater and technically probably one of the greatest of your field like Tessa and Scott, but you remember how people made you feel not what they did to you...
And then you combine that with incredibly skating skills and a great sense of style and you see the results.

Found a super duper cute interview of Gabbi and Guillaume for a kids newspaper http://www.1jour1actu.com/sport/18397/ (if someone want to translate ?)

This is indeed a cute interview but actually quite revealing and turns out more intimate than most interviews I've read about them.
At what age did you meet?
Gaby:my mum, a skating teacher, fell for Guillaume. Convinced we were made for each other, she threw him in my path: we were 8 yrs old! Since, we're inseparable.
Guillaume: at the beginning, I absolutely didn't want to be bothered by a girl at my arm ! Finally, we have more fun at two on the ice !

Inseparable:
Gaby: Like my twin ! We both keep a kind eye on the other. We know in advance what the other one is gonna do. After 12 years together, between 3 to 7 hours a day spent training, our bond is unbelievable.
Guillaume: Like my big sister ! We know each other by heart; better than we know our parents, friends or even our respective partners.

What is your secret to be successful ?
Gaby: When there is the slight issue, the slight disagreement, it needs to be immediately talked out to avoid becoming a bigger problem. But generally there aren't any. And we understand each other instantly, without having to talk.
Guillaume is discreet and easy to get along with, not complicated.
Guillaume: As soon as I hear the tone of her voice, as soon as I take her hand, or I hear the sound of her blades on the ice which indicates whether she is light or nervous, I guess her mood. Then, I know how to act or react.
Gaby: Always being attentive towards each other allows to make the other person happy. When he's happy, he achieves beautiful things, even if they are difficult like some of our elements.
Guillaume: And one needs to always remain patient when the other one doesn't progress, or is feeling down. Constantly knowing how to support each other.

Have you ever wanted to live together ?
Gaby: Never ! Outside the ice, to each is own life. And without necessarily telling it to the other either: the best way to recharge before going back training.
Guillaume: No! We are made to live together...but, on the ice !

They definitely have to do more "kids" itw ! ^^

Thanks for the translation 🙌🏻

I've taken a bit of a break from most of GS the last few months due to my health (finally recovering!) and wanting to just watch FS without reading all the carping, but I have read this thread regularly (so thank you!) and I've enjoyed Worlds enormously!

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Gabi and Guillaume and how mesmerised and enthralled I was by their FS. Even though it isn't my fave of their FSs, it is amazing how 'on' they were and how much they brought to that skate. It gave me goosebumps.

Going forward, they need to choose their SD in particular very wisely and really work every point they can out of it for next year. Then, who knows...? ;)

All the best for your health...glad to hear you are recovering:).

Interesting interview and it shows how fair play Gaby and Guillaume are. They basically congratulate V/M saying they had great results all season long with their SD. They don't go along with the French Federation in blaming the judges because it's up to them to work and adapt their choices and skating esp. in the SD to be more competitive.
They take full responsibility for underperforming in the SD saying it was not up to par with what they were able to achieve in training. They didn't skate a 100%. Hence their disappointment.

Yes, and Gaby just posted congratulations to Tessa and Scott on Instagram to make it clear that they don't feel unfairly treated by the judges:).

You can just basically tell that they are happy to train with Tessa&Scott and I'm sure they don't like all the fuss about how they should have won or whatever... Great sign of maturity, fair-play, sportmanship. I have to say I'm impressed. This kind of maturity will get them wherever they want to go, that's for sure.

But the FFSG (and particulary Didier) is PISSED about that place. And the best part is that Gabriella and Guillaume after, told media that it was their fault, not being 100% in the SD, and keep posting on instagram and more that they are happy to train in montreal, the media and dider are making a fuss out of what P/C call a 'personnal victory' for the FD, 'superiority' when they talk about V/M. If they had to lose, now is the time, they learn A LOT this season, they seem just on fire for the next one.
They are clearly getting away from their federation about these statement, and so they should
