Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Very cute indeed.

Quick translation: The whole Q&A is based on "the day when ..."
1- The day when you got extremely crossed at each other
They don't fight so much maybe once a year. Generally it's when they can't do sg. So they blame each other, don't talk for a short while and then just get on with it.
(they are notoriously not the fighting type and seems to get along really well on the ice)

2- The day when you thought about a world title for the first time
Guillaume recalls talking with this mom in the car a long time ago saying his objective was to compete at the World Junior Championship. But in the end this type of thinking comes gradually.
Gaby says the year they became World Champion they didn't expect it so they didn't have time to think about it much as it came much faster than they could have ever anticipated.

3-The day when you got the biggest fright on the ice
They've never had any impressive accident. Every time Gaby had a problem, Guillaume was not there. Concerning the commotion, the fall was not impressive so they didn't get scared. They realized the seriousness of the injury later. Once, Gaby remembered a scary fall in Lyon from a back flip.

4- The day when you missed a training session for shady reasons
Guillaume jokes saying they're not about to confess now in front of the camera. Mainly they can be late because it's hard to get up especially when they were young and they had to be on ice at 6.00 AM.

5- The day when you won't skate together anymore (the cutest bit imo)
Gaby: For sure it'll happen one day or another
Guillaume: no, never ( :luv17: )
Gaby says it'll be a big unknown because they've always skated together. It also means stopping their career and right now, it's hard to even imagine it. They'll have to figure out what they want to do with their lives. (:yahoo: great news for us, it might mean they'll keep on after the Olympics)

my dream pick for them is the song : mistral gagnant by renaud. it's french fav song ever ( yeah ahead of edith piaf or je suis malade)

russians or americains don't know this song. but gosh it's just gorgeous the lyrics aren't adapte to a couple (it's a father talking to his daughter) but you don't need them the music itself works. i feel it could suits them perfectly.

it will mean so much to us to have them skate to that song.

here i put the piano version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF2b2XnsqWs

btw: i know coeur de pirate cover that song but the original is better.

The piano version is so beautiful to listen. Its length is quite short, so if they are ever gonna use it (probably for FD if it is used for next season), another song might be necessary. Though the tune and mood would be quite similar to their past FDs.

As much as I love Mistral Gagnant, I'd like them to keep on going with a more intense music like this year's FD. I loved it, it was the most intense performance they've ever done, so much passion and urgency in their skate suit them a lot. The first part on oddudua is my favorite. I've never seen them skate that fast with that much power, so impressive. After watching their FD from the last three years back to back, their improvement in speed and power is so evident. You can see how they're coming into their own, after all they're still only 21 and 22 making them the youngest of the lot in the last flight at Worlds and they clearly haven't picked yet. Their physical projection, especially Guillaume's, is also intensifying, they fully fill up the rink by their presence and charisma making it look too small for them. I also find his short sleeves costume was a brilliant idea, making them blend their arms together reinforcing the impression they were just one entity on the ice sometimes splitting in half but always finding its way back to unity. I'm thankful to them for having persevered with this program, it's their hardest, most accomplished FD to date. It's so full of little details in their posture, their holds and even this gorgeous twizzle moment, how they start out of synch to come back fully nsync is gorgeous. When each year I think they'll never be able to top themselves, they manage to exceed my expectations. But this FD, how will they ever top that ??? Hopefully, they'll prove me wrong yet again.

mozart, build a home, hapiness does not wait,i can't make a top 3. i can't decide which one i like more, which one i like less.

you're right about this twizzle moment it is indeed gorgeous. if they could only tell us what is their fd music. i can't wait until october (french master?)

I think it'd be a wise move on their part to compete in some other Senior B competition other than the French Masters in order to get a more objective feedback on their programs. I know they're probably required to skate at Masters, but (correct me if I'm wrong) the feedback they got last season there wasn't very helpful, they got told everything is great. They'll need to know from very early on what works and doesn't work, what changes they should make etc., because it's the Olympic season and it matters much more than last year.

And what about Gaby's twizzle here, she rotates for so long  while his doing his own thing and yet bang, find each other's hand perfectly. This practice video is great because we get to see many moves from a close-up angle like this twizzle, I've never notice how long she was rotating because during competitions it's always shot from the side showing off Guillaume's stretched out leg movement.

We do not know ... I really think that judges tell them their opinions (but not in public), what is wrong. The problem of the masters this season was many negative reactions on the forums (few people were in Villard and the videos were of poor quality). Sincerely I did not understand these comments (I was in Villard). A month later at the Grand Prix of France, everything went well.

Every year I wonder how they are going to do better ... but they do:luv17: We will have to be patient to know the new programs:scratch2:

I think they will do the masters but that just before or just after they will make a challenger.

I totally understand your impossible choice ! I love those songs so much but they are so different in many ways. And they absolutely don't tell the same "story". To build a home can make me cry in 3 seconds and Happiness does not wait will make run faster (and it's actually my alarm song, such a good way to start the day 🤗)

I heard some songs on Spotify last week that could be really nice for the FD, it's more in the 2016/2017 vibes but a little much "happier", I could post you YT link if you want

I didn't notice that too !! Their twizzles are always incredible, it's one of my favorite parts of the program

For someone who can barely skate:hslap: (according to some critics:handw:), she is incredible (Guillaume, too...no jealous:laugh:)

This program is magical. It's not sport, it's art.

thanks for the link. They are getting a lot of attention from french media cause they can win gold.

in a interview a journalist suggested that they should speak with martin fourcade (french biathlete 2 times olympic champion). good idear martin strength is the way he deals with presure. he had all russia against him and the guy was okay and win a world title 2 days after.

I prefer focusing on commentators like those great spanish ladies who always refer to her as "ballerina incredibile". I also find the American trio of Ben Agosto, Tanith Belbin and Charlie White are so appreciative of their skating. They're really not chauvinistic even though they could be with 3 serious American medal contenders. Tanith was particularly complimentary during the FD.

Those three just LOVE them. They just appreciate the art actually. But they also are very objective when it comes to skating and know what to appreciate in a team or not, their experience talk for them. I hope for the american audience that they are going to comment the Ice dance event in 2018.

The off-season is going to be long... since Gaby and Guillaume are ALWAYS the last one to reveal their music choice (you get the answer either when their ISU page is updated or 2 days before their first competition). Maybe they'll change their mind this time

Build a home is my "favourite", but only for the music, I absolutely love this song since the first time I heard it (in 2007 maybe?), so I let you imagine my joy when I heard they were skating to it...
Mozart was the "discovery", I was blown away. It's not their usual style and yet they absolutely killed it. It is classical music danced in a modern way.
Happiness is the "confirmation" : I was scared by the unusual rythms or the musi at first and then you see them skate to it and... whatever  I didn't actually think that they could improve that much in such a short amount of time. Instead of telling you a clear story, they use emotions.

Can't wait for the Olympic season, they already started preparing for it. I hope for them and their teammates to have a great skating environment, for that we could see some masterpieces next season :agree:

Nathalie Pechalat and another person interviewed them. I understand nothing that was said, but it was nice to see them interact and the champs so relaxed. I think Nathalie posted it on facebook.
