Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

I guess they're going to start their season at the French Masters. I wonder if they will participate in a challenger (Finlandia trophy?), there is also the Cup of Nice but it is not a challenger and it is in France (but it is better than nothing).
Oh please let it be Finlandia Trophy! (I already have a ticket...)

I'm pretty sure they'll do some kind of international comp before the GP, but I don't know if it matters to them whether they "test drive" their programs at a challenger or at some lesser international, so... *pleasechoosefinlandiaprettyplease*

I'm curious to know how much footage with them does the NBC have after yesterday, since it seems like they filmed in at least three different locations (Gadbois, Guillaume's place, Old Town Montreal - the cafe and the street dancing). I'm glad they're getting the exposure, they have so much marketing potential!

YES!!! :cheer: I'm honestly so relieved right now.

Exactly, so am I. It looks like they are doing everything they can to avoid last year's mistakes by allowing outside choreography input with Dean and a ballet dancer, by starting early on training with no French tournee to derail them and finally by getting early feed-back from an event outside France one month before their first GP.
Of course, they're not the only one to follow this strategy but they seem more organized than last year, plus they know what to expect from competing against V/M as well now.
We just need to wait to know their programs. I actually don't care much because whatever they chose I'll most certainly love it esp. the FD. I'm a bit more more concerned for the SD esp. in comparison to V/M's whose music selections are pretty kickass tbh (even though I have a totally irrational hatred for Hotel California). I already imagine they'll have a SD very similar in terms of energy and all out presentation than last year overly acclaimed Prince SD. Why kill a winning machine. Gaby and Guillaume will have to be strong right off the bat and not make the same costly mistakes here and there because I have a feeling V/M surely won't in the SD.

Good. As much as I enjoyed the development of the long last year, with its four different end lifts, reworking of both step sequences, change of entry to the first lift, the revise of the twizzles as it fell foul of a rule, the multiple reworkings of the transitions around the spin, the change of rotational lift, the changing of the choreo twizzles to a transitional sequence, etc, etc, they really need to be punching at full weight at the very start of this season. The early development of the programmes and additional consultants, and now the announcement they will be Finlandia, and that the Grand Prix Final will be the first place they go up against V and M, should mean they get at least four skates in before the big showdown of what should be near fully developed programmes. Last year, at the Masters, the long looked like it had just been sketched out, so really they only got one competitive skate in before that showdown. That's a huge difference, and in Ice Dance above all, momentum matters. Now, all we need is for French Masters to be properly filmed......

If it's not, no worries cause Finlandia is only 1 week later. I think I won't make the mistake to watch their programs from a fan recording, even though I'm so grateful to the fan who did shoot it, I mean what would we, poor stranded ice dance fans do without the dedicated fans putting up videos on YT for us. Still for the first ever viewing quality and shooting angles matter immensely. After the initial discovery, I actually love watching fan recordings because it give us a better sense of the speed and sometimes depending where they seat we get a whole new angle like at last year world. A fan shot from the opposite of the judges bench during their practice and I remember thinking it was like viewing the FD from Guillaume point of view, esp. because we never got to see his attitude and expression during their gorgeous starting position.

I agree! No problem with fan cams at all. It's just this is the debut of perhaps the most anticipated free programme of the last four years. The French fed should be ensuring its receives the best marketing.

I'm surprised ... I think I'll love their programs too. But I hope that the masters will be well filmed, it is the first time they show their program, the first impression is important especially in this season (and we will have already seen the programs of Canadians). I count the days before leaving to Villard (I will give you my impressions and they will be very objective:agree2:)

I wouldn't hold my breath on this one :hslap: But we can also hope they'll take a page out of Gaby and Guillaume and learn from their mistake last year. What were they thinking letting people make up their mind on fan cams esp. when it was V/M's return and their Prince SD was an instant hit at Autumn Classic.

Just thought I'd drop by after having watched all the underwhelming SDs we have so far to say that Gabriella and Guillaume were dead right about Latin on ice. People were unnecessarily harsh with them about that Florentina Tone interview, and just now it's becoming obvious how much truth to their words there was. True visionaries tbh.

I'm still bummed that the ISU haven't choosen a tango for the Olympic season.

Found this article about Jeffrey Cirio, explaining the work is doing with P/C :
"What’s up next, Jeffrey Cirio?
First I’ll do Mexico City, for the festival there. I’ll do Rubies with Lauren Lovette. Then I’ll go to Montreal to work with two Olympic ice skaters on movement quality for a week. After that, I fly out to London, where I will be doing a dual guest contract with English National Ballet. So I’ll be there for four months, from August to January 1. Then it’s back to ABT.
