Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Yes, many of these people have already said their bitter remarks. I believe I said it before - ignoring these comments is the best way. Gabby and Guillaume just broke two world records today, that speaks for itself. In China, in a neutral territory, it wasn't their home they were competing in. It's an incredible achievement.
I don't think they are going to slow down, now. I think they know they still have to improve, they know their weaknesses. This week was the much-needed boost for their confidence.
The NHK is the next week and Tessa and Scott are there. I'm sure they will skate great too, so that definitely won't make Gabby and Guillaume slow down.

The camera work was just :palmf: https://youtu.be/MVQXPNvtSrE?t=200 I love this moment so much and I can't understand why someone would need to film it from the bird-eye perspective. That's just... why? :D

Some of the replies to Guillaume's Instagram post are infuriating! Ugh.

Cute Instagram "story" though:love::

OMG Again , I couldnt watch it live, but I just saw the score ..........:luv17::yahoo::hap93::hap10:
Telling that Cup of china and Bombard has any connection and they both overscore French is pathetic

Yes, we had 2 consecutive weeks of awesome skating. I'm waiting for V/M to respond to that in NHK and then P/C to do the same at TDF. We're in for a treat.

After ladies FS Lipnitskaya said that she watched french FD and Moonlight Sonata is a piece of art and PC are gods. :) Totally agree with Yulia. They are fantastic.

Just in case anyone wants a score comparison breakdown between the free skate here and V/M at Skate Canada

Virtue and Moir scored fractionally higher PCS (0.14)
P/C gained over a point (1.2) for that extra level on the midline step sequence; they would have gained more but got across the board 2s for GOE, which is below what they normally get for this element.
P/C also gained on both choreographic elements (0.8 of a point in total)
P/C also gained (0.47) on the GOE of their level 3 circa step.
V/M gained some other very minor points on the Goe of the other elements. (0.07, curved lift) (0.08 twizzles)
Stationary lifts were equal (maxed out) as were the rotational lift (V/m) against the straight line lift (maxed out) and the spin (maxed out)

The most tenuous of these gains by P/C are on the choreographic features- the spinning movement and the final lift- because of the rule system and how points are rewarded for them: they are the most easily manipulated/subject to bias scores in the scoring system.
The most solid is that on the midline step.

I think P/C are very sensibly concentrating on their levels this season, for the most solid gains....... You could see it here in both the step sequences and also in the "made Ben Agosto emit a funny noise" partial step. From a competitive point of view, this is (in my opinion) a season for making sure the levels are there as early as possible, and putting pressure on their competitors through this.... That's what they have done here......

Cup of China 2017 deserves to be in good position in the ice dance history books as many records got broken:

Free dance WR was broken once again by Gaby & Guillaume
Overall (SD+FD) WR was broken once again by Gaby & Guillaume
200pts threshold was broken for the very first time in an int'l competition by Gaby & Guillaume

I think some of you checked that in the protocols of the free dance but Gabriella and Guillaume got the maximum PCS score of 10 points fourteen (14!!) times for their very first Grand Prix...

They are saying Guillaume's name's correctly. FINALLY!

Haha, yeah! Simon Reed is like the only B.ESP commentator who gets it right every time. Mark Hanretty usually does, too, but he's had a few flawed pronunciation instances. Chris Howarth and Nicky Slater are kinda hopeless and make Guillaume's name sound as if he's Welsh.
