Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

The world record enigma. Plus the full moon effect in Beijing.:)

Plus the Olympics. 94 days left isn't much. There were a ton of article thanks to that 200 score, by various medias (covering various subject, not just sports). Olympic fever is growing.
It's actually 500K+ views on the Eurosport France facebook page. IIRC, James/Cipres went viral on facebook last year too. (1M+ views)

shame about the twizzles, if not them they could get almost 121 points, but lets not be greedy

Why such a difference? Maybe I've missed something... They had lvl4 on twizzles.Higher GOEs would not have given them 2 more points.

Not the twizzles. The Midline step sequence was level 4 but "only" +2 GOEs everywhere, something they can work on. And the Circular steps were level 3, so that's 1.50 points left on the table and that is huge.

It's over 1.3M on Facebook

Which facebook account ? I checked on their webpage but couldn't see. First off isn't the link sending you to Youtube ? So the count should be under the YT video. Ok I have to acknoledge I have a facebook account but never use it really. Hence me sounding dumb

OK got it thanks. Happy they get the much deserved exposure but they cut the program, how could they do that :roll5: Do they think people won't be able to focus for more than 3m45s when the FD is just 4m10 anyways. The French media still don't understand the hypnotic power of P/C, I see  Still happy about the exposure.

I don't know what this is- a coffee advert, a general piece of fluff on them? However, LOOK AT THOSE EDGES........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyvRiFIBpBY

I think this coffee brand is a sponsor to the Olympic French team. In the presentation, they say they followed 4 athletes preparing for the Winter Olympics. Then it goes on saying how P/C perfectly incarnate elegance, excellence and grace. And then in a very "subtle" marketing move they tie Gaby and Guillaume's gold dreams with their own coffee brand called L'Or

The amount of hate P/C are getting from a lot of V/M hysterical "fans" is just disgusting...I know we shouldn't pay any attention to them, but they're litteraly writing novels now under a lot of YT videos, fb and insta posts, shamelessly claiming that Gabriella and Guillaume don't even know how to skate...They even dare to mention "politics" and how Tessa and Scott should do something if the French happen to win the Olympics because "it just can't be" (Imagine if G&G had done such a thing last year at Worlds...)
It just makes me sad because they don't deserve such a bad treatment and I have the feeling that, even though V/M won't be competing next season, the french will still generate a lot of bitterness and despite because people decided they didn't deserve their place...I can't remember if it was tthat bad when the rivalry was btw D/W and V/M...was it ?
And nobody is actually defending them quite well...For instance, TSL posted their recap on The COC yesterday, and of course, under the video, people got mad and became extremly rude. Yet Dave were like "I agree with you, the canadians are better but the judges seem to have decided to give the french team the momentum", which is not an answer to give to a hater ! Apparently they hardly assume to defend the french team (which is "not a diss at V/M" as they pointed it out themselves) when such comments pop up...Too bad.
Idk, but I'm just so..yeah disappointed. I don't know where this competition is going now, but it's not so much about sport and skating no more.

I know it's frustrating to see haters, but I'm not sure V/M fans have a big impact on the general public's perception. They're just going to watch the Olympics and see that P/C are beautiful and modern and cool, and they will like them. Ice dancing scoring is so technical it's difficult to understand. The audience will go by the program choices.

The best thing is that P/C have a good short dance this year that they are comfortable with. They won't make as many mistakes as last year. And their free dance is the stronger one.

To be fair to Dave (and I did think he jumped the gun earlier about making a comment of how V/M's set pattern was better than P/C's before he had obviously seen it; when it would have been better for him to have presented it as conjecture) I think he''s doing a pretty good job of being as fair and factual as he can about both teams at present, considering he is a huge V/M fan. Jonathan Beyer is more P/C I feel. However, both are recognising and seeking a real appraisal of the chances and the skating that they are watching. If their conclusions don't match mine, that's ok.

Plus I know that Moonlight Sonata and P/C's short this year are shifting more and more people in to appreciating them. There will of course be people who think Virtue and Moir are the Alpha and omega or ice dance, whose opinions aren't going to change to the point of even appreciating P/C on any level; plus there is a lot of Canadian press that is fostering that feeling in Canada. But you know what, it's them that are missing out......; and all the background noise on the internet doesn't really influence the Isu or the judging that much if at all. Beyond which, what people are commenting on are usually not always well filmed (esp. Cup of China) videos on small screens on youtube. I don't think they capture the full feeling that Gabi and Guillaume communicate when they skate that free; and that in itself will ultimately- clean skates permitting- be the most decisive factor in how well they do this season.
