It has the colors of the Brazilian flag (green and yellow). I wonder if that was intentional (to bring out that Latin flavor ...).

Oh yes, maybe!

It also reminds me of a bird. The Vanessa Paradis Coco Chanel advertisement. But a flamboyant bird, like Stravinsky Firebird. Green and gold shining bird.

But yes, brazilian samba costume vibes.

Really laughing as this is going exactly as I guessed it would. I don't expect VM to score above 120 tomorrow, if they even get that high. All scores will rise for the individual event, where PC will win both the short and free with near perfect scores.

If only there were a way to make money off ice dance predictions!! I'd be a very rich PC fan. ;)

I don't think that predicting the favourites to win has ever made anyone rich...
Predicting GabGui to win the 2015 Worlds, yes, that would probably have made some money!

That said, I fully agree with your prediction!

Ok guys sorry if I'm being a bit thick here but I thought the panel and judges were different between the team and the individual event. Checking the ISU results sheets and the technical panel are identical for both. Seeing how strict they were today, I'm getting nervous. Plus I found everyone skated a bit nervous and tentative but they had the opportunity to shake it off now. P/C will come fresher but I hope they'll be able to keep nerves under wraps. Also about the rink's size. It does look a tad smaller. V/M usually don't come that close to the boards at the end of the pattern so P/C who usually are really close to it ... I hope they'll take notice.
Again, it's me being my nervous self. I wish I could be as positive as a ray of sunshine like you too Gotlev and All that  At least, it's relaxing and moral boosting to read you booth.

we are all freaking out by the end of the week....
I checked the practice schedule and they will have at least 2 practices in the main rink, so i hope they could see and check the boards........
By the way, the coachs - I hope - talk to each others, so they should have informed Romain

It was the best solution for Gabi and Guillaume (do not participate in the team competition and arrive a little later): they are great professionals, with a whole team around and with them ... they know what they do it and we have to trust them.
I am impressed by their mental ... at no point in the season have they appeared in trouble, nervous on the ice.
I do not know what will happen next week (I cross my fingers and toes for them:)) but they could not dream better to participate in their first Olympic Games (they had a dream season)...

It may have been a "tough" panel but it's nice to see right calls being given on the pattern. Sure Levels in Step sequences are tricky (and hard to understand since we're not watching it live) but pattern calls were right. ANd if they would have done their pattern as usual, they would have gotten level4 because they are using tricks and mouvement to show that they have the right edges and Key Points anyway.

Anyway, they know what they have to do, my main concern is for them to have 2 clean performances, you cannot control the rest. And I think they were very right to skip it since they're would not have been doing the FD.

Also, Marie-Jade, Romain, Marie-France and the French team gave them a shoutout in the Kiss&Cry. Marie-France said : "on vous attend !" (We are waiting for you !)

Looked it up in the OG tech panels and judges thread:

Composition by country of panels of judges is

Ice dance: Canada, France, United States, Russia, Italy, Israel, Poland, Ukraine, China, Turkey, Spain, Slovak Republic, Japan

For Team Event, they use the same Tech Panels but different make up of judges' panels

Ice dance team event: Canada, China, Israel, Japan, Slovak Republic, Spain, United States, Turkey, Ukraine

I've thought at first that P/C could have benefited from participating in the team event (as a sort of warm-up for them, to get a feel of the intensity of the crowd, etc.), but after reading this article about the weirdness of the team events so far, I am now thinking that they are probably better off being out of this atmosphere. Half of the crowd left by the third Sunday session! LOL. The article just somewhat confirms what I've always thought about the team competition -- that it is rather bogus.

well again this event should come after the individual competitions for everyone to be truly invested in it. It could offer redemption for the fallen heroes plus skaters could let off some steam after the intensity of the single competition stress. It's pretty obvious to many so why isn't it being done is a mystery.

Yes, probably better that way!

Having reviewed the Shibs and V/M's set patterns, I agree. I also looked at P/C's European's set pattern to contrast and compare. I think that would still have got a level 4 here.
