Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Of course they are. One must be stupid not to see it. D/L are jealous of P/C.

Well we can agree to disagree for sure. I certainly don't enjoy to believe such things unless the main people decide to come out and say so. Otherwise not only it is not my business, but it takes me away from the most important thing which is Figure Skating.

This is one of the dumbest comments I’ve seen in awhile. Jealous of the team that will bring them their first Olympic gold as coaches? You must be kidding.

You don't understand at all!
They get all these results so young, it wasn't D/L's case. It wasn't "easy" for them.
Someone like Christopher Dean wouldn't be jealous of P/C, he is himself a legend. It was "quick and easy" for him.
Haguenauer can't be jealous, he didn't have a proper career as ice dancer. He is 100% coach.

Summary of the small documentary :

They arrived in Korea. They followed them after GPF in December before Nationals, training in Bercy (Paris). Then, they do a presentation (nothing new), point out that no other French team has had such a meteoric rise in the past.

Then, we see them train, Romain gives advice, says that every details matter to go further, to arrive at Games as ready as possible and mentally strong.
Voiceover : They'll repeat over 10 times the beginning of the SD this morning until perfection. 2 young skaters (17 yo) managed to sneak in  "They skate so well, it makes us dream".
Having such a chemistry takes years, exactly 13. They're not an item, but share a special bond, a special relationship (Guillaume : "we go through intense moments together").

Then, they are being filmed in Clermont-Ferrand where they lived (They come back 2 or 3 times per year). Picture with the blue costume is in 2006. GC's mom : "At this time, they were playing in the city, and he used to always lift Gabriella around" (the picture is so funny).
GC's mom : "we start with one training per week, then 2, then 4, then come at 6 a.m at the rink to train... really ? Then everyday.","We are proud of the person you became, this sport allowed you to build your own personality". His mom will go to Korea.
Gabriella is walking around in "self-mockery". Gaby : "You got to laugh a little a bit, no ? I don't know, I like it... otherwise you get bored, don't you ?"
She did not necessarily wanted to skate, it was almost like school, she had no choice (Her mom is a coach). But she started to like it, but never ever dreamed or wanted to go to the Olympic Games when she was a kid. Today, she won't switch her career for anything.

Back to Paris, media tour in a Brasserie (small restaurant), gave interviews for many big French newspaper to get closer to the public, bring popularity to the sport, for the youth.
Radio interview : they run into Teddy Riner (google him if you don't him = Legend).

Gabriella and Guillaume will try to make history 16 years after Marina and Gwendal. Blabla, the end

And I hope this one is not geoblocked because it's the best : https://www.6play.fr/le-1245-p_1056/12-45-du-mercredi-14-fevrier-c_11891123

Anyasnake, you're a treasure! Thanks so much!

Oh thank you ! It's my pleasure, I'm happy to do that and to share ! We don't have that many news and PapaCiz are not covered like US, CAN or JPN skaters so it's the least I can do if I have the time :hap85:

Don't buy in conspiracy theory, never liked them. Plus I truly believe MFD and Patch are behind all their skaters and enjoy working with all of them. P/C made their reputation, they are the ultimate success story they couldn't even have dreamt off. Plus they are gonna keep on at least for another quad when V/M is done so why anger Gaby and Guillaume and see them leave after the Olympics. Makes no sense. Anyway I don't want to dwell on this.
About the NBC fluff piece. It might be me making a wild generalization here but I find most US commentators, US skaters like Davis and White, Ben Agosto, Tanith and others have really embraced P/C being very complementary to them and actually truly getting what they were trying to achieve with their skating. For instance, Charlie White saying how they were brave not to listen to the critics and the pressure to change it up every year but follow their path and deepening their interpretation. I feel this fluff piece is also shedding a very kind light on them even though US has three great ice dance teams who are rivals to P/C. You also see how H/D and C/B are friendly with P/C. And on the other end, we have the Canadian media ... I won't say more, you all know what I mean. In conclusion, I applaud American fair play which was perfectly illustrated in Boston 2016 by the wonderful audience who could have given it all to the US teams but welcomed P/C and applauded them heartily.

Indeed!

Thanks Anyasnake :)
I think this is one of the best TV reports about Gabriella and Guillaume: see Gabriella and Guillaume when they were children, the little anecdotes, the old photos:luv17: ... these two are inseparable:laugh:

Well, ice dance is NOT like figure skating, where there are jumps, a very CLEAR sportive side. Ice dance is more like BALLET, with ego, jealousy, artistic side, it is very subjective.

Thanks but the site will still not load for me. I'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of a boycott of Southern India going on. I am unable to load about every video posted on this forum if it's not YT.

You need to talk to some coaches. Coaching is completely different from being a competitive skater. Coaches don't compare their own potential to their students. They try to maximize their students' potential. D/L are being recognized as the greatest because they are the ones that have maximized PC's skill. That's the ultimate honor to receive as a coach.

Besides, if D/L were the jealous type, they'd never have taken on V/M. V/M were the reason D/L retired before 2010, even though they were Canadian #1 team and V/M fresh out of juniors. They knew they couldn't compete and win. If they resented that, no way would they have taken them on and be as happy as they are.

I think it's fairly obvious that NBC and USFSA are on the side of PC. The US judges have marked PC higher all season, and I think Tanith, Charlie and Meryl are just waiting for PC to skate so they can start talking about their superior skating skills and the magic they lay over the arena. Then the social media will take care of the rest and crown them the legends that they already are.

Also, British Eurosport presenters, except for the one that sounds bit wrong sometimes when talking about Tessa. They, like Tanith, get out the word incomparable when talking about P/C.

Wasn't it also BESP who said this week that everyone they've talked to has the French in first going into the IE?

Just making a comparison between the Mist from V/M's free particularly as it has a number of turns at the end of it, with Papadakis and Cizeron's Dist from last year (as recorded at practice). Because the music is similar and the direction across the ice similar and there is some parallel between the choreography it makes a very interesting compare and and contrast exercise.
