Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

So gorgeous, and it's only practice! :) I'm very annoyed that the FD is happening at Sunday 12:50am local time, but at least on Monday I'll have a beautiful Moonlight Sonata to watch when I'm on a break. And at least the SD is at a reasonable hour...

Thank you Alain, for the wonderful videos as always, and everyone else for the links and the photos. I'm glad the thread is picking up again now that Worlds is here. I've missed seeing these two on ice! It hasn't been that long, but still  This is probably one of the last times we'll see Moonlight Sonata live, and I find that it's hard to look away even with just practice videos :) Still ever so captivating.

Harriett, once I cannot complain, I can watch everything live... Milano is making it up for me after the Olympics ! I feel for you though :ohwell:

You're lucky, enjoy it! I got spoiled by the Olympic scheduling. But it's not as bad as I thought (I should read more carefully) - the FD results will be waiting for me when I wake up on Sunday morning, not Monday. That's much better. I can catch up over breakfast.

And thank you everyone for the gorgeous photos and clips!

Thanks so much. Coming down for lunch break to find all those videos made my day. If you're reading this thread Alain06fr, I can't thank you enough :)

:agree:

I am not posting much anymore... I am still in an observation phase... And one message on the previous page is not what I would expect to read in a forum where freedom of speech and diversity of opinions are both the essence of any discussions and debates (in compliance with the rules of course).

Their twizzles are just breathtaking, i watched this again and again :https://www.instagram.com/p/BgiRN6Tg7Bt/?taken-by=alain06fr thank you alain.

I mean the details: their arms, hands and heads hit the musical notes perfectly. Gabriella interpretation, Guillaume exit and his shoulder movement after the second set.:bow:
I always love their twizzles sequence but the one from moonlight sonata is my favorite.

Gabriella and Guillaume ARE exquisite! Thanks alain and all who have provided the practice videos. I have every expectation they’ll perform both programs with brilliance this week, and believe another WR will be the result! :yay:

Thank you G&G for your excellence! Moonlight Sonata has been a joy to watch. I’ll miss it but know you’ll have new mesmerizing programs to enjoy for next year....and the next....and always.

Very interesting interview of Marie-France! It was nice to know more about preparing period and her vision.
As for me, I think that the team prepared all theirs athlets well. Sometimes some bad things happen, but it's not a situation when someone is not prepared or not trained enough. That's her job, and she made it perfect (1, 2, 4 places in a situation when their school even 4 years ago was not strong in skating world - that's a success). I would be surprised if she was sad about results! And it's not a problem (as I think) that she doesn't know now what a way to go next for Gabi and Guillaume - the season is not over yet, when could she think about it? Instead of preparing all her couples to Worlds?

I think, P/C are lucky to be with this team, and hope everything is OK.

I just love watching them skate... Interesting that they are still tweaking things even after the Olympics, keeps it interesting for them I guess. The circular step sequence looks so well-rehearsed by now it's unbelievable. I'm trying not to think that in just a few days we will be entering a drought of many months once again...

Of course she is not sad, I have no doubts about that.
I didn't realize that thinking about the ways of future development of P/C requires from their coach and choreographer such tremendous sacrifice and effort as leaving preparation of all her other couples. Sorry, my mistake. In any case, I agree with opinion that P/C have outgrown her. I think they need someone else to be pushed further to develop their talents.

Sure. Because she has 1st and 2nd place in her team. Why she should be sad? It's not her obligation to wish the win only to P/C.

I didn't write it is such, but it's typical when you first over one season and only after this start to make something for the new. Yes, you can do it another way, but this way is OK too. I think all the coaches had a lot of other thoughts about this season as during the OG, and also after. It's only one week to the end of the season, why it's so necessary think about new dances right now? If it will be in April, for example, that's enough of time, I hope. She sais that needs to discuss it with Gabi and Guillaume, so it's obvious that they too didn't start to discuss it with her. What a problem?

It is simply exquisite. Their twizzles there and in to Build A Home are probably the best for me. But as soon as I pick these two and write them down, I tend to look at the other dances and I cannot decide once again.

So there ... while we are waiting for more news or pictures ...

I always wanted to know what you think about G/Gs short programs...
For my part, I love their SDs as much as I love their FDs. I don't know where to start: the music is never run of the mill, the choreography always extremely original, full of incredible details and their interpretation so personal, from solemn to quirky, they run the whole gamut of emotions.
I even loved their first SD as senior (The quickstep), even if I was not crazy about Gabi's dress (to frilly for my taste) and if Guillaume had a few splats. Lots of "joie de vivre" in that program!
Now I must confess that I am not a fan of ballroom dancing, especially the professional kind. I have watched a few videos where I sat transfixed, mesmerized but not in a good way : to me the expressions, the way the dancers hold their bodies verges on caricature. This said, G/G have their way to "make it all better!":console:
Their "Spanish" program in 2014-5 was exceptional as a whole (music, details, interpretation), the "Waltz" was gorgeous and allowed them to glide (I just think that Gabbi's role in it was a bit eclipsed by Guillaume and I wondered if she didn't need this piece to slowly get back into "it" after her ordeal), the "Swing", I loved (I don't care that they were unsettled and made mistakes, the swing part of the SD was a gem (The blues part lacked something and I still don't know what...). This year's SD to me is the culmination of their skills! They have steadily improved over the last 4 seasons but this year, they are on it! I even think that it is the one reason why we might be grateful to V/M. I think, they wanted to equal them in a short program. They were already better in the FD:yes2:
I never understood the critics about their lack of versatility. Total :scratch3: As for the SD's requirements being an impediment to their style, I say NO. They can't glide as much in a short program but they are technically so sound that ... who cares????

O.K ... that's quite a bit longer than I usually write ... any thoughts?
P.S: I made sure not to goof to avoid :shock2:!
