General Information: Olympic Figure Skating Individual Events

I guess no matter where I would want to watch, I'm f*cked, because men and FD are held during a time that is bad for everyone but Americans. It's in the middle of the night for Europe and in the morning, when noone even has time to watch TV, for east Asia. Can some northern European country please hold the Olympics next time...

The next winter games are in Milan.

I mean they can’t please everyone. I’m in California and plenty of competitions this seasons were on at 3 am for me. The Olympics is half and half. Women’s and pairs is in the middle of the night for me.

:ot: Totally OT Chris, but what laptop did you buy? Mine is too heavy to take when I travel.
Not Chris, but I recently had to get a new laptop; I was on a long trip and the one I had with me suffered a catastrophic failure with weeks to go. Fortunately my daughter had been considering buying a chromebook for travel for herself, and she drove me to the nearest office supply store to get one. I got an HP that is the smallest one that has a full-sized keyboard and I really like it. It is easy to use and was very inexpensive (US$229 plus tax). It is light and seems quite sturdy.

There are only two things I don't like about it. The first is that the screen goes funny/dark if viewed from the wrong angle; I am still experimenting with computer placement for ZOOM yoga. The second is that the supplied power source is heavy; I will investigate alternative power sources before I take it traveling again.

For those with access to a VPN (or who are based in the countries below), the official Olympics YouTube channel are showing all the events live. Countries you can VPN into to watch the stream (courtesy of So You Want To Watch Figure Skating on Tumblr): Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Links to the streams available so far:

Individual Events:
Men SP
Men FS

I've linked to the Team Events in their general info thread.
With my Nord VPN, the only country in your list I can connect to is India. But when I do, there appears to be nothing currently shown, and no lists of upcoming live streams for figure skating. Questions: will it even work with a VPN set to India? If so, will streams only show while they are live, with nothing shown in advance, and nothing showing up later?

I know a few others have probably mentioned it, but I usually watch the CBC coverage for the Olympics. With my VPN on Canada, you can watch full events at your leisure without interruption. I know that there are probably other countries that do that as well, I've just usually found the CBC coverage easy to access.
I think I may try the CBC option this year with my VPN set to Canada. Do you know if they'll show everything? Can any of it be viewed later, kor only live, at the time?

I've just connected my VPN* to India to try and, when I click the links I posted above, it takes me to a screen showing the video window with a big picture of either Nathan (FS) or Yuzuru (SP) and a countdown to the start of the event. If I go via the Olympic Channel YouTube page, none of the videos are queued or featured but by seaching 'mens short program 2022' on the page, I get the livestream as the first thing to pop up on the search list. If that's not working for you, maybe try going direct from the links on this page (So You Want To Watch Skating on Tumblr, they've got a list of all the links). Hope that helps!

*my VPN is from McAfee, so it may work differently to yours, although I've heard good things about Nord, so it should work okay too?

They are showing all events live and you can rewind the tape up to 30 minutes whilst the competition is still airing. In addition, once the event is completed you can go to the tab that says "Replays" and watch any event back at your leisure. I've been watching curling on demand all day. :)

Also, I live in the UK and also use NordVPN and the CBC has been working well for me all day. The figure skating is listed under "Live Events", "Coming Up" Figure Skating - Team Event - Preliminaries. It looks like they are going to air it straight through the night as one big stream, not breaking it into different events.

Will Peacock allow me to replay the events? Cause most of the time, I’ll probably only be able to watch part of the events before going to bed.

Thank you--this may be the best option for me. I've not seen everyting you mention, but I can go there and look around some more.

Thank you--I, too, had looked at the So You Want to Watch Figure Skating with its links. Perhaps your McAfee VPN works differently than my Nord VPN in relation to connection with India, since I can find none of what you list above. Isn't the name of the YT Olympic Channel simply "Olympics"? Maybe I'll have to try the CBC channel with VPN set to Canada instead. It's just that I like the way the YouTube channels work in general--they are easier.

Yes, it is just called 'Olympics'. I think I'd muddled it with the Olympic Channel website, which has some replays and other videos on it! Hopefully you'll have better luck with CBC, I think I saw a post about the Australian streams earlier in the thread too? They might also be an option with your VPN?

Australian streams? I'll look into that--thanks! As far as the Olympic Channel website goes--would anything be available there without a VPN? If not, what country's VPN should I use?

I couldn't find any streams on the Oly Channel website, but I do find it very difficult to find videos on generally (their search function isn't the best) so they may be hiding on there somewhere.

Thanks again--hopefully with this other link you provided, I can find more.
I am in the UK I have Sky and can get Eurosport livestream on my regular TV channel and I have activated a free years subscription to discovery plus which also has the figure skating live. Obviously if you're not a sky customer then it's only BBC red button 🙄

I have no digital TV (only a couple of analog sets which are of course non-working). I almost never watched TV since going online, anyway.
