Germany's Handke/Wende withdraw

German pairs skaters Rebecca Handke & Daniel Wende have withdrawn from Worlds. They had pulled out of Junior Worlds due to Rebecca's bursitis, but had hoped to be able to skate in Calgary. The bursitis has not cleared up, however, and she must now have surgery.

Marie-Doris Vartmann & Florian Just will travel to Calgary with Savchenko & Szolkowy. I'm pretty sure it's their first major international competition.

Vartmann & Justs first and only international competition so far was the Nebelhorn Trophy where they finished 6th. They teamed up last season and where both single skaters before.
