I think Tim's withdraw has more to do with his horrible performance at NHK than boot problems.

Why go through the charade of competing in the Grand Prix events, then skip the final because of equipment problems or because it is not convenient to your schedule?

In Timothy's case I don't think he forsaw any boot problems, or food poisoning problems this season. So yeah, he went through with his assignments as best he could so that he could make it. But he's still having problems and he'd rather let someone who is ready and confident than have him falling all over himself... Rather than risking injury he'll forfit his turn to someone more capable of putting in clean performances... I applaud him for that...

Brian wants to win, convincingly, at his nationals... no problems there either... that's what alternates are for.

I didn't mean for my post to sound conspiratorial. The whole boot thing just seems strange to me because, at his level, I'd think he'd know how to break in a pair of boots. Maybe he thought his time would be better spent preparing for Nationals after the season he's had, and he just needed an excuse. That's fine with me. I'd agree that Nationals is of higher priority than the GPF. Just curious, that's all.

...or maybe Frank ditched him I was looking at the practice pictures of the junior grand prix final in Sweden. There was one of Frank with Daniel Kahle.

OT - I hope they show the JGPF - I've heard great things about Kahle, and it'd be great to see her skate.

You know... travelling from France or not... Brian should be going! He should have been honored and excited about it. Others have gone to competitions on short notice in the past, that is what they do... that is why you are called an alternate. I would think he'd go for the experience of it all... just plain silly, short notice or not. I still LOVE his skating though, don't get me wrong

Both men, IMHO, have good reason to not be going.

In regards to Tim's boot problems, I've seen it dicussed on other boards by skaters that there are problems... sometimes the boots just DON'T FIT no matter how hard to try to break them in... so you go through a few more pairs and taking time to break them in and if they still don't fit you go back...

It could be he's finally found a boot, but is still breaking them in...

what's really amusing is I can't stand Brian's skating(maybe that's why I'm all for him staying in France [JOKING])
