Argh, we shouldn't publish the result so early. If anything, I can just go and copy the prediction of some of the high scorers and get high score myself.

Should just wait until the end of the run, and publish the results?

If you have the time to do that, great. But what's the fun in that?

I think people enjoy knowing how they do as the game goes on and I think it's important to recognize smaller milestones/achievements along the way.

For example, we had completely different winners for the men at Skate America (Blades of Passion) and Skate Canada (waxel). Both should be recognized for their achievement.

I agree with Mrs. P's comments, but I'll also say that, while it might be tempting I guess for someone to copy a high scorer's results, someone scoring high at 1 or even 2 competitions is no guarantee their guesses will continue to be right. In fact, someone with no knowledge of men might have done better at the first competition than any of us. Someone silly enough to think D/R would place lower than 1st at the last competition would have been right. And often things are a tossup and ice is slippery.

Now, this was a hard one to make guesses for …in all categories!

In both the Ladies and the Men’s competitions, there were too many of my favourite skaters competing, and it made it hard to choose an order! I found it heartbreaking putting some of them further down my lists than I would have liked!

In the Pairs, it was not too hard to pick the top 2, and the bottom 2. But as for the ones in the middle, it was hard to choose an order, as I think

a. Popova/Massot and Peng/Zhang will be well matched
b. Martiusheva/Rogonov and Zhang/Bartholomay will be well matched

And as for the Dance, the problem was which order to put the Chinese couples in, as Huang/Zheng are the only ones I am familiar with. I have no idea how the other 2 couples compare to them. So, fingers crossed I've not picked the wrong Chinese couple to put in my top 6! ;)

2. Denis Ten
3. Nan Song
4. Takahito Kozuka
5. Florent Amodio
6. Han Yan
7. Maxim Kovtun

(I added one extra alt, just in case Denis Ten doesn't show. Does anyone have any info on his injury? Otherwise... no idea with these men, really. I'd normally have some of these higher, and others lower, but... Who knows how any of them is going to skate, really? Men is by far my most favourite discipline, and also the one that gives me the most aggravation.)

1. Carolina Kostner
2. Kanako Murakami

Note: About copying others... Well, I for one try to avoid looking at anyone else's guesses until I've done mine. As for how that's working out for me? Well, let's just say that I am sure no one is even remotely tempted to copy mine.... ;)

Also, I think it's fun to see the results as the competition goes along, and I think the winners, and high-achievers in the different sections should be acknowledged. And, again, this is perfectly disinterested on my part, as things are going for me. :)

Putting Kozuka first was disastrous for me a couple weeks ago but he's still one of my absolute favourites so I'll give him another chance...

I was tempted after SA.
My prediction has about 70% wish and 30% of prediction.

Feeling like I'm at the track, waving a wad of cashes, betting on horses like the rent is due tomorrow or something.

 yeah I often kind of am wishing too in my predictions, though I think mostly unconsciously.

So for the record as your men's scorekeeper:

Waxel won the men's category at Skate Canada with a very nice score of 70 points, having predicted 4 out of 5 placements right and only having Jeremy Abbott off by one places.

Rounding out the top placements
1.) Waxel 70
2.) Aero 65 (also 4 out of 5 placements correct, but was off on Jeremy's placement by two places)
3.) pitterpatter, sky_fly20,GF2445,fairly4 and Blades of Passion 60 (tied)

Average score was 46.5 and the median score was 45, so the winners in this discipline were truly extraordinary, but most everyone did better this week.

Wow! I won Men's! Now on to Cup of China!!
