Grand Prix Speculation 2015-2016

I would be hugely surprised if Chan didn't do Skate Canada. He done it for like the past 5 or 6 seasons (save for this past one of course), and it's a great vehicle to start his season. I'm guessing he'll do TEB again though. Makes the most sense. It's unfortunate he doesn't do NHK/CoC for the travel issues.

And he loves performing for Canadian audiences, at SC and the Nationals.

NHK is not a travel issue this year for Chan, nor a conflict with the top Japanese seed. But the host may have issues with inviting him.

Hi, I'm kind of new to the grand prix picking system. I learned some things as I read the posts but I still have a question. For the federations not hosting a grand prix event, would they just send their skaters anywhere?

Federations not hosting a GP, and whose skaters were not in the top 6 at this past Worlds get to wait to hear where their skaters have been invited. There is no"sending" about it, other than they can send skaters to senior B's and hope those skaters win.

There are not too many eligible skaters from non hosting federations and the eligible ones are mostly seeded and will follow the rules of selection. Usually, the skaters are invited by the host federations rather than sent by their federations. Each event has 3 spots for the hosting federation so some of their own non seeded or eligible skaters get to fill them.

There used to be a (MIN TES TO BE CONFIRMED) next to Hannah Miller's name and now that's off so it looks like she will get a grand prix spot and Karen Chen is left outside the top 24.

1 1/2 months to go! Man! How are we going to be able to wait that long?!

I KNOW!!! THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!!!

I am also out of skating until July with injury so I have nothing to do with my life except school-ugh-and obsessively stalking GS. This would provide activity and something to do with my life.

In between now and June 15, I will finish my sophomore year of college, almost finish my summer biochemistry class, knit more, and getting anxiety from that I'll be turn 20 a few days after the announcement of the GP assignments.

The race is officially on: Will Baby P (which is due on June 15) come before the GP assignments?!

I wonder if looking at the actual GP assignments could get me into labor. Ha.

In all seriousness, I have so much to do between now and then, the time will fly.

That was there to determine whether Hannah had a qualified TES score (it had to be from a junior-level competition) to participate in junior worlds (I think it was determined that she did not). It really had no bearing whether she would stay on the top 24 SB list.

Well, the wait from when we know the GP assignments - to the actual GP is much, much longer. So I'm fine with waiting for the annoucnement a while - gives one something to look foward to that's at least reasonably close.

At least I can make predictions and speculate once they're out, plus the JGP starts on August 1. Senior B's start in late August, so I think I'm set!:)

Why July 1st? I though senior gp started in October... I love that month thou... Gymnastsics worlds, gp series, my birthday :D

You could speculate about who you think will get two spots - and who will get one; host picks; where the seeds will end up; and, in fact, make it into a puzzle, and fill in the spots at all the events - and then, when the announcement finally arrives - you can see how much you got right! :) I mean, if you lack for activity... ;)

Great idea! Thanks!

With so many skaters coming back next season, I'm super hyped....and a little scared. I think this season has given me a bit of trauma :drama:

The first JGP starts August 19th, but the ISU starts releasing the rosters for the JGPs about 28 days ahead of time. We should start to see a weekly roster starting around the 20th of July.

And let's not forget about the summer comps---some of the big ones start off towards the end of June.
