GS Meetup at Worlds 2016!

OK, so If I understand you, if we PM you our email and / or mobile number, We DONT have to figure out Slack or we do? I dont mind a slack app on my phone but I run with my data turned "Off" .
So, to put it another way, if Mrs P has slack and she sends out a mass text, "Meet up on the concourse next to section 109 at 3 pm", we without slack will still get the text message?
Chris stuck in the 20th century

Yes, Slack is not necessary. Text messaging on meetup is an option.

For karne, you can also just check in with the GS meetup thread.

I figure I'll use Slack for things that are planned a little ahead or general chatter but for last minute meetings I'll need to rely on text messaging as well. Glad I'm not the only one!

OK, fine. I will wait for text messages...oh, and I just wondered what folks do when they come to the US...if their cell phones work on our system....I would imagine their wifi works like ours and there is wifi calling, but I didnt know if their GSM/CDMA phones needed new sims or what...
Chris whose fone doesnt work in Canada...

What a list! It's looking like there will be lots of GS members at worlds!

I found a small glove puppet in the form of a yellow bee to bring as my yellow item Golden Skate identifier! Significant for me given that my first name apparently means bee in Hebrow and an Irish saint with my name was known as a bee keeper by sheer coincidence. Anyone else bringing yellow items? Can't wait to see Chris's hat!

I bought some yellow ribbon @ A.C. Moore yesterday, so I'll bring it along (I don't have any yellow items for winter weather).

I think we are up to 76 souls! Pledge time! IF we hit 80, we get our own section.....seat assignments added. I grouped people by first letter of their handle so I could find duplicates...

Chris, I will be there too - maybe we will hit 80.

Sorry for missing you! I will put you in...care to share a first name? ;)

With waxel, we are now at 79! Did I miss anyone? Everyone got their yellow hats for the group photo?
We should look good on TV!

I opted for the pic of the hat in a credential pouch....just print out the jpg and slip it into the pouch..or have it laminated or do the lamination at home with a Walmart kit....

Just thought of something...if you go to this link and right click and save the jpg, you can print it out in any size you want, and slip it into a badge pouch which has a safety pin. Use magic markers to put your name at the top above the hat.

THEN, we can have a contest! How many GSers can you meet at Worlds? Kind of like birding...you have a list now of those that are going....anyone wearing yellow ribbon or creds is fair game....just carry the list and check people off.... ;)

I hear ya!!! I was suppose to be going with someone but now Im going alone. It would be good to meet some new people where Im here.
I’m going, despite my better financial judgment (poor student :sad4:). I’m there Wednesday through Sunday morning, though I’m not attending every event in there. I’d love to meet up with people!

Mostly I’m just chiming in to say that I did my undergrad in Boston, so I lived there for about 4 years (actually the part of Cambridge just across from Beacon Hill / West End so I know the area around TD Garden fairly well) and I could recommend some nice, not to expensive restaurants in the area for brunch or drinks. Just let me know if anyone wants some ideas for a meet up.

We stand at 81!

Chris's urging for me to call the pizzeria gave me a great idea!

Nguynhm had proposed meeting between the SD and the opening ceremony/Men's SP. Would anyone be interested in meeting at North Station train waiting area and getting takeout pizza from Regina Pizzeria in the North End?

The pizzeria was recommended in the Boston as a Tourist thread. I (or someone else) can call an order ahead of time (maybe during the Ice Dance resurfacing) and pick it up.

It also be a great way to get a big group of people together without having to try to fit in a restaurant! Thoughts?

Something just occurred to me...

Once the event actually begins, this forum is going to fill up quickly with threads discussing the actual competition...so perhaps a suggestion to the mods - would a sub-forum for attendees/meet ups work? That way, threads like this don't get lost in the shuffle with everything else?

How about move this thread to the Feedback/Announcements, since there isn't a ton of threads over there? Or Le Cafe is also an option.

Count me in.

I also realize that you made the pizza suggestion first! :)

Cool... I will add it to the meetups list. I might have to recruit a pizza pick up person if we have a lot of pizzas to pick up, LOL.

I need to buy something yellow.
