only once - a speeding ticket three days after a snowstorm - I explained to the officer that the speedometer had frozen & I had made an appt. to get it fixed the following week, but the officer still wrote it up. It was @ the end of the month, so maybe he was trying to make his quota. I was NOT pleased!
