Han Yan

Yeah I love Hanee when he's on. Also I agree he's a nice contrast to Boyang. I'd say it's more of a comparison of a potential Jason Brown/Nathan Chen rivalry.

I also really liked the idea of the 2012 Jr. worlds podium pushing each other. Now Josh is gone, so I hope he gets his mojo back.

I always love him and it's painful to watch when he gets bad programs and doesn't skate well :( I really hope he will get his mojo back, he seems to do better in CoC than other GPs, so I hope the rivalary with Boyang will keep him motivated.

I keep remembering his skate at 4CC last Feb. and want to see him skate like that! It pains me to see him in the K & C hanging his head down! Hopefully he'll improve as the season goes on. It's still early.

I love Han Yan, his SS and beauty of his well executed jumps are beyond compare, but please somebody let him know he has to burn that FS bright blue blouse...:dev2:

It is heartbroken to see Yan Han skating like that...Hope that he will be back with all the confidence and beautiful jumps...

2/3 He didn't do well at SC b/c he felt nervous and thought too much in the compt. At COC, he won't consider the result, just try his best.

3/3 He's not satisfied with new costumes designed by himself. He will change both at COC. He thought simple style was suitable for himself.

Zijun Li just performed a great SP without Coach Li. I never forgot reading that her water intake was limited! :(
Could Han Yan do better under a different coach ( or without coach)???!!!

the first interview is about his costume. I think Han really listens to feedback from fans (it is known). So the ugly costume feedback also reached him this time. The interview is about that. he said that the blue FS costumes, he took part in design, however, it turns out that ugly:biggrin: Han has strong sense of style. Fans suggested that he should get suggestions from professional figure skating costume designers at least some collaboration. And he emphasized it is a collaboration this time. not entirely his own idea/design. but when it is made, not as good as he imagined.

second is a TV about current Chinese skaters. Han said his stsq this time is the most difficult. specifically, many twisted anti-natural positions/steps, and added more upper body large amplitude movements.
about his style/interpretation. he thinks this times is more from his heart. not just goofy, funny characters like before (I personally like Han's SP style, he took a style that really reflected his natural flavor/impression on ice, when he practices, that kinda cool, dashing, etc.)
then talked about the future of Chinese lady skaters. Zijun, Ziquan and Xiangling will be the major players. Xiangling will senior debut on COC next week and she is working on 3F-3T and improve PCS.

Thank you, yyyskate! :thank: Good to know he listens to feedback. I like his SP too :)

Another video interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jnqJbwQqZQ Can someone summarize what he's saying? :)

First question: how this program came about.
Yan Han says he just happen to hear the song and thought it suits him. They [Yan Han said "the two of us"] spent one day choreographing this program. Yan Han did a minute of the choreography. Yan Han likes this program but he's not sure of the audience response, as this is the first time doing this type of program.

Second question: training in US.
It was like starting over, new environment, new coach, new everything, and it took some time to get used to. He seems to prefer to be more close to home.

Third question: what has improved while training with the new coach?
Stamina.

Fourth question: currently practicing new quads?
Yes, 4S, which he practiced quite a bit last year as well. Will try to add it before Worlds.

Fifth question: comment about Canada.
Worlds still has an effect on him, so he was nervous when competing, plus wanting to do well after spending so long in US. A lot going through his mind.

Sixth question: about two new costumes.
They were too ugly. He designed his FS costume but didn't expect it be be so ugly when made. He will make two new ones before CoC, because they were too ugly and doesn't suit him. He's more suited to wear simpler costumes.

Seventh question: new hairdo?
Not decided. Whatever mood he's in will decide his hairstyle.

Eighth question: everyone wants no beard!
Yan Han: I didn't! It was because I was in the US and nobody was watching me so I didn't want to bother.

And then some training footage.

Thank you so much, eta :luv17: :thank: I hope Han will manage to podium like last year. I'm glad his stamina has improved! That's quite importatnt, especially in long program :) Glad he's changing costumes also :hap10:

No problem, and right at the end it says "Waiting for the new CoC costumes!"

Just a few more days, I hope he makes the podium as well!

As I mentioned in Boyang's thread, Han needs to find a way to calm his mind. He's mentioned at various times, usually in explaining his poor showing, that he thought too much. I hope he learns to relax and focus so we may see his gorgeous 3A again and some medals added to his collection.

earlier in the streaming he is just so happy to see Patrick again ;) this time, he uses another finger

He seem happy to see everyone. He is cute. Boyang is cute (in the clips we saw!). The boys of team China = Cute. I'd say they could both be hot, but I'm WAY too old for them, so that's creepy for me to say. So yeah, I'll stick to cute.
