Has Wang Yihan been underscored?

What do you think she can do to bring PCS up?

How can she be scored so low on PCS with one gold and one bronze at JGP ?

Her skating is technically very sound. So, if she was underscored it would be in the technical score not PCS.

She pays almost no attention to performance of any kind. Her programs are quite empty and her SS are just average. Basically, no, she wasn't underscored in PCS. She's not doing anything to warrant high PCS right now. Clearly, to increase her PCS she should get stronger programs, work on SS, and actually try to perform.

She won those medals on the JGP due to sound technical performances when other more balanced skaters didn't skate to potential. She could move up in the FS if she stays clean and others falter. The other Chinese junior women do not have the same reliability that she has but they are stronger from a performance standpoint especially Shiqi GAO IMHO.

I have looked forward to her FS all season. While I have enjoyed both programs, find them aesthetically pleasing, I am no technical wizard but was always impressed with her elements as performed. She was hesitant during Worlds which I felt could have been attributed to nerves under pressure, fair enough.
As for PCS, it is such an individual subjective thing. I felt her FS performance was spot-on in terms of the character she was portraying, a Grandmaster with intense lethal focus so it really worked for me on that level. Her coach appears to be very reserved too so it may be just their way and I accept that but know that most audiences (including judges) really want to engage with their skaters on a personal level. I and a few other fans tend to prefer less emotion, more nuance which can be lost on most viewers who really need to see big smiles, wide gestures, audience-encompassing moments some of which I find cringeworthy from time to time. Character portrayal is art; imo she is doing just fine. I really look forward to seeing her next year.
