ok so talk about waiting till the last minute, with the hectic week last week on top of one of my best friends being in pre-labor all weekend and then going into full blown out labor today I've been a little out of it (she's having the baby on base, hubby's in Iraq right now so they phoned him into the room so he could at least hear it... he didn't want to have the video hook up because he didn't want to be able to see it and not actual BE THERE... )

anywho... I have a church Christmas party to go to tomorrow and surprise surprise I don't have a gift for the exchange (known as a Chinese Auction, though I grew up calling it a White Elephant Gift Exchange... whatever lol)

so what should I do, it needs to be rather inexpensive (the rule is 5 bucks or less) and obviously G rated... this is a group of singles mostly college age...

any ideas?

i have a few..

Do you have a store like Marshalls or TJMaxx? Do the gifts have to be uni-sex? You can get a really nice lotion, soap pack, shower gel, etc.. at one of those stores for about 5 bucks. Can't go wrong there..unless you happen to be a guy to pick one of those out. Also they have nice holiday candles.

I love Border's and Barnes and Noble bargain book selection. They have some good books around your price range that cater to cooks, gardeners, etc.. - again it's mostly girly stuff.

And then there is always a nice X-mas tree decoration. Lot's of stores are selling them at 50-75% at this time.

That's all I can think of right now...

definitely check out the "off price" stores (TJ Max, Marshalls, Ross, etc)

I'm a gadget guy myself, I've found great stuff for about 5 dollars..a good example was the car ionizer I found for 5 bucks and also desktop calendars are an inexpensive gift that most people enjoy. Since you said it's at your church, how about something inspirational. I love my Max Lucado calendar that someone gave me a couple of years ago. Cheers, Toni, and with all this excitement with others, don't forget to have a good time for you.

Happy Holidays (please check all that apply  )

Hi Toni..........What about a 5 dollar gift card to Starbucks.........besides coffee, tea, and chocolate, there are goodies to eat there too........or a gift card to just about anyplace, for that matter......:) 42

I'm not sure if you can even get $5 gift certificates to iTunes but that might not be so bad. Everyone else has good ideas too.

I was going to suggest a gift card, too....maybe something that is popular in the area where most the people attending live...like Starbucks or Blockbuster...maybe attach a small tree ornament to the envelope with the gift card in it.
Have fun, Toni!

a Giant bag of M&M's...last time i went to one of those church Chinese Christmas things,if the rules are the same there,if you open yours and you don't like it you can take some else's...well those M&M's went through so many hands before someone actually got to keep them LOL

ha ha! If I were in the pastor's sunday school class I would definitely do that (though I still might) you're his best friend if you give him M&Ms ;)

My g'pa gave me an idea.... there's a shop just down teh street from where he lives that has jelly beans that are different hot pepper flavors... heh heh heh I'm all about having a total GAG gift ;)

So what did you end up giving, who got it, and did they like it??? Inquiring minds want to know!
