Noticed on the calendar that today is the start of Eid.

Well, Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Year begins tomorrow evening (September 15, 2023) @ sundown. Wishing all the Jewish posters here a Shanah Tovah oo'metookah (literally a "good & sweet year")! One of our customs is to dip apples into honey for a sweet year.

October 1st, the start of "Spooky Season".

I've decorated my apartment for Halloween this year. I normally do only the windows, but decided this year to do some different things around the apartment.

Here are the before and after pics.

Has anyone else decorated their homes for autumn or Halloween?

We don't decorate the house for Halloween (we only do simple decorations for Chanukah), but our garden flags have pumpkins & sunflowers. We change the garden flags to reflect the seasons.

I used to go all out when I was younger but have scaled back now I am ancient (but oh so wise!)
I have a fireplace but don’t use it because (1) fire must be tended closely and I must come and go often; (2) 2 cats and 3 dogs spell disaster

I put an ambience fire from YouTube on TV, pumpkins on the mantel; watch the trees turn color, listen to music (Danse Macbre, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, anything by Mean Mary) and watch films.. it is enough but I miss the days when I haunted the sales at Michaels

I had two Halloween parties to go to this year. The second was a theme, you had to come as a celebrity who has passed, so I came as Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead.

On the way to the first party, I realized I should've done zombie Jerry Garcia, and been from the Grateful Walking Dead.

Time to take down the Halloween stuff, and put out autumn/Thanksgiving stuff.

Unless you happen to be Canadian, in which case autumn decorations go up after Labour Day at the beginning of September, there's a brief flurry of a low-key Thanksgiving in early October and then it's Hallowe'en stuff. Now the Christmas theme is showing up in ads and I'll get my decorations out for inspection after I put away the Remembrance Day poppy wreaths and stuffies in military uniforms next week.
