How do you dispose of "old" boots?

... as some of you seem to frequently buy new boots:
What do you do with the old ones? Just chuck them in the bin?
Or hand them down to a person who could still use them (provided size etc fits)?
I'd guess that boots which an advanced skater would classify as "to be replaced because they have become too soft etc" would maybe still be better than what some "newcomer" would buy "new" for 70 Dollars/ Euros ...?
Just curious.

This post might get more attention if it was moved to the LUTZ forum. Maybe under boots and blades. Moderators?

I donate mine to a charity thrift shop, along with a pair of guards. Living in Canada, hockey and figure skating equipment is much in demand even by those who just drop in to public sessions occasionally, so the shops are delighted to receive them. My boots are 95 stiffness, but I give them hard use that wears them down softer, but still firm enough to be safe. I have small feet, so my boots would fit either another small adult or an early-teen kid.
