Also, how many of his students have reached Michelle's level. The reason I asked this is that I sometimes wonder, in Michelle's case, was it instruction or raw talent. I'm sure it's both, but you see some skaters go through so many coaches looking for that magical partnership you wonder is it worth the adjustment/ learning curve or are you better off sticking it out with your current coach and maybe just consult some specialists in areas where your coach may not have the most expertise.

I don't think any parent or skater wants to switch coach often. Learning figure skating as a sport is not an easy thing. When a little girl started skating, probably eather herself nor her parents know who can teaching her to the top level. Mostly they'll choose a nice lady who can just stroke on the ice to teach. After many years of skating, they could finally understand it. Meanwhile they might have been through few lower level coaches who can just teach the girl very basic. On the other hand, for parents who have skated seriously themselves, or they have older children skated competitively, changing coach often might be their problem.

Frank coached Linda Fratianne to 4 National titles, 2 World championships & 1 Olympic silver medal. He coached Christopher Bowman to 2 US championships, 1 World silver medal & a 4th place finish at the '92 Olympics. You know about the success he had with Michelle but he has, also, coached Angela Nikodinov, Tim Goebel & currently is coaching Bebe Liang & Evan Lysacek along with Ken Congemi. I've missed a few but Frank is certainly considered the premier coach of single skaters in the US. He had planned on retiring years ago when the very young Michelle (& her sister Karen) came to him for lessons. I imagine he is close to retiring now that he is in his 70's.
