Incorporate and respond to quotes from more than one person and more than one post into one post of your own? For example, if I wished to respond to quotes from posts by, say, RedDog, Dee4707, Tonichelle, and Mathman, all in one post, how do I go about doing this? I've seen it done various times over the years but have no idea how to go about it.

(And yes, this probably falls under the "How Ignorant Are You?" category, but I'm one of those who considers myself lucky if I know how to turn the dang thing ON; all else falls under "Advanced Computer Science"....  )

Abraham Lincoln said:
Four score and seven years ago...

As Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said,
"A foolish consistency is the hobgobblin of small minds."

The easiest way is to ignore all the buttons and just type in the instructions yourself. To quote someone, type

[*quote] (remove asterisk)

then copy and paste from the post that you want to quote.

Then type [*/quote] (remove *) at the end.

If you want to credit the person, like Abraham Lincoln, go [*quote=Abraham Lincoln]

To do nested quotes,

[*quote]...[*quote]....[*/quote][*/quote]

You can also type your own bold [*b], [*/b], italics , underline , etc.

Click the "multi-quote" button on all the posts you want to quote and then click reply. It is the one next to the regular quote button with the quotation mark on it. In Firefox when you click it, it turns red.

Oh. THAT'S what that thing is. I never really paid much attention to it, it's been just kind of "there" for the last 4 years.

Thanks, guys!!

Now if I can only remember what thread it was that I wanted to do all those multiple quotes on......

I might add that Jimmy Hoffa was the one who figured out all this stuff for us way back on the ezboard forum. :agree:
