I'm new at this, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

My favorite skating even is ice dancing! Does anyone else like it as much as I do?

There's no other place near this place that's anything like this place, so this must be the place. Welcome to the forum. We already have 557 orange monkeys -- always looking for one more. :)

Ice dancing is slowly but surely becoming my favorite discipline, too. For me, it's because of some of the rising teams. I like Silverstein and O'Meara, Matthews and Zavozin and Kerr and Kerr.

I was really hoping that Fursar-Poli and Margolio would take gold. This is their last olympics and I just really wanted them! On the other hand, I would've also liked Belbin and Agosto to take gold too! I missed most of the Champions Gala. That's the best place to see great Ice Dancing!

welcome to the forum, orangemonkey!!!!!

Ice Dance rules.... especially US Ice Dance right now :D

Ice dancing is also my favorite discipline in figure skating! Although I think since there are compulsory elements in the free programs, the programs always look a bit the same...(especially since COP) but I hope that hte NJS will be improved to reward originality edaquatly. This year I loved the Kerr's programs and Denkova/Staviski.!! Such an emotion to watch these teams!

I usually just watch some of the compulsories. But the original and free dance I love!! I was hoping that Fursar-Poli and Margolio, the italian team, would win gold. But, I'm happy that Belbin and Agosto took silver!!!

orangemonkey558, it's nice to see someone who appreciates F/P&M.

Icedancing has always been my favorite discipline in figureskating. There are alot of new younger teams who are wonderful and should make the competitions leading up to 2010 very interesting. Belbin & Agosto, The Kerr's, Matthews & Zavozin, Virtue & Moir and Domnina & Shabalin are some of my favorites.

Also IIRC for the time being Denkova & Stavisky and Delobel & Schoenfelder will continue to compete through next season.

Ice dancing is my favorite discipline, not least because I'm rather good at it and will NEVER be a freestyler (too old and built wrong for jumping). I adore Torvill and Dean and think no team is currently their equals, but at the moment I'm rather fond of Gregory/Petukov and Dubrueil/Lauzon. (CanNOT get behind the team with the masks on their gloves--this is dancing, not Cirque du Soleil, and have sorta issues with a brother/sister team. I find it a tad creepy in ballroom as that's not the vibe you're really aiming for.) I like Belbin and Agosto all right, but Tanith needs to improve her lines (ie point her g--d--- toe) and I'd like to see a little more polish overall.

I lovelovelove ice-dance, it is my absolute favorite thing to watch like ever. My current favorite ice-dance teams are; Delobel/Schoenfelder, Denkova/Staviyki, Domnina/Shabalin, the Kerrs, the Beiers, Silverstein/O'Meara, and Dubriel/Lauzon.

I'm not a big fan of Belbin/Agosto, but I guess since they're bringing new viewership/interst to figure skating I can't complain too much. I adore the Kerrs, they're awesome...but like julietvalcouer said--no one can match the awesomeness that was Torvill/Dean!

Who was it that fell? I know alot of them did. There was this one couple, he had his arms out in front of him like a basktball goal, and she was hanging on. Who were they? I don't even remember which country they were from.

I think you're thinking of the Canadian team, Dubrueil/Lauzon, they had to withdraw from the olympics?

I don't think so. They fell in the long program. He was spinning around and she was holding onto him and she just let go. They took her to the ER later that night I think.

I don't remember anyone falling in the Free Dance/Long Program

The Original Dance had several teams that fell... and the only team that got taken to the ER was D/L from Canada... she bruised her hip so badly that she couldn't put any pressure on it and so they withdrew before the Free Dance...

Orangemonkey--you're definitely thinking of D/L. They fell in the original dance and had to skip the free dance. I don't think, as Tonichelle says, there were any free dance falls at all, and that's the "long program." Ice dance has three phases, remember, and they actually showed all three of them on TV for a change.
