Is Alissa the One!!

No, Alissa is not THE ONE. If she couldn't stand up to the pressure at the Nebelhorn, what does that say about how she'd stand up to Olympic pressure.

USA and Alissa herself would be much better off if Alissa watched the Olympics from home.

Actually, one insider at another forum (I think he/she knew someone that competed against Czisny) didn't have exactly glowing words to say about her...Of course, without knowing her personally (for a while) one just never knows.

Oh no :frown: I hope being US champion hasn't gone to her head! It could just simply be her nervous nature, it would probably be easy to appear aloof or reserved due to her worrying a lot. In any case, we don't know if she's actually nice, but she appears to be. Recently I've just been happy that she's falling less :) . Another one of my favorite skater's is Carolina Kostner.....you think Alissa's inconsistent, watch Carolina. She delivered a great short at worlds this year and then in the long program she completely bombed and singled most of her jumps...it was really sad :cry: . I want her to medal at the Olympics this year! I can hope :love:

The whole freakin' U.S. of A.? As in, Alissa going to Vancouver will cause the stock market to crash and Iran to step up it's nuclear weapons program?

I hope she kicks butt in Spokane (my home town, by the way, and not that far from Vancouver.) :)

I wouldn't take it too much to heart. On that same forum someone was once critical of Lysacek. And, IIRC, someone else didn't like Aliona Leonova -- which is totally absurd, IMHO. :yes: )

Who couldn't like Alena Leonova, she's adorable. And Evan Lysacek seems very lovely too. That is a very nice picture of Alissa, she looks way younger than 22 though!

I'm with Dee too....but I am also an Alissa fan and to tell you the truth she's killing me slowly but surely, year by year, event by event and jump by jump. :laugh:

I guess I am one of those odd fans that is loyal - and I don't forget how many lovely moments her skating has provided over the years.

I like the way Alissa interprets music better than the other American girls, I think she has beautiful lines and extensions, and her spins are just the best.

I hope she skates her best at at Nationals.

As it was first time I saw both, I enjoyed her skating much much more than Wagner's who to be completely honest did nothing to me ( especially when she changes her face expressions in her spirals, I really dont like that and I felt sleepy in lp) even if she skated better technically . Alissa is fresh and spectacular, at least live.
I dont know what might be the consequences to the whole USA, but I would send her to Olys with Sasha.(dont shoot)
 
Alissa? sorry but she had her chances. It's going to be Flatt, Mirai or Ashley.

No, she is not in her room! It is taken in the lobby of hotel, I have many but most are shaky cause by the time the Usa team came to dinner Plush arrived also and I abandoned the rest of universe;)
 
She is not nor has she ever been the One, but for sentimental reasons, I wouldn't mind if she makes the Olympic team. I know Wagner and Flatt are waaay better bets than her, but when Alissa is on she holds my interest much more than the other 2. She has a very ladylike, delicate quality to her skating that many find abhorrent, but not me. I'm so stereotypical in that respect - throw me some beautiful spins and spirals, an elegant line, a whole lot of grace, and I'm hooked. ;)

The Russian connection doesn't surprise me - Alissa mentioned somewhere that her grandmother is Russian and that's why she chose Dr. Zhivago for her LP music. She also speaks the language. Personally, I'm kind of meh on Dr. Zhivago now; she should go back to her Sabrina FS, for there's nothing like seeing Audrey Hepburn on ice to make me squee my lil fangirly heart out. :love:

Yeah, not an uncommon occurrence for sure.

However, If I remember the post correctly, it actually wasn't in that typical "snarky" format. But that's beside the point...

Yeah! Just throw in Ashley and Mirai; I certainly wouldn't mind any 2 of the 4! (Not going to happen but I can dream).

Alissa is a beautiful, graceful skater but everytime she jumps I'm terrified (Oh skate gods be kind :bow:). When she's on though; she's a thing of beauty. Recently, she's been really fighting for her programmes (eg RoC) and her nerves appear to be holding better now (at least I hope so).

That said, I'm praying for her to be on at Nationals and make the Olympic Team.

Otherwise, he always seemed so reliable I don't know why it would be considered so nerve wracking watching him skate.

I can tell you are not cut out to root for Alissa or Tomas - they would simply shatter you ;) :)

He was pretty disastrous at Skate America at Colorado Springs one year. Early in the season and the altitude is high.
