OK, FINALLY
I don't like the SP points as a tiebreaker, cuz it will have impact not only on TEB skaters but on everybody (especially ice dance I think), I would prefer best SP and best FS points as a tiebreaker.
It seems likely that we will have only 6 skaters in each discipline - good for ISU cuz they'll have to cover additional costs (so it seems that's why they will add a TEB skater only with 7th place not 7-8 place for example).
Maybe you're not, but we have no way to confirm that this decision was made in a fair way.I love Max and I wished he was in. But not everyone is going to be happy. Ice is slippery.Well, I don't like it. (But is anyone surprised?). It's simply wrong to use the SP results as final. By doing so, they are making the assumptions that they ostensibly were trying to avoid - the assumption that the standings would have remained as they were even had an LP taken place. They should have tried harder to make the FS happen, even if it meant waiting a couple of days, or reconvening the week before the GPF.
And yeah, before the accusers come out, I don't like it also because it means Max misses the final. Think about the stupidity of that: a GRAND PRIX WINNER, who was placed behind two skaters who had invalid jumping passes (which is a rant in and of itself), is going to miss the Final because of something that was completely and utterly out of his control. It's lunacy. But the ISU wouldn't have cared, because of who it was...
I think this is a really good solution.
One thought that I have about Liza T. possibly not going is that she can use that time period to stay at home and really buckle down on her training for Russian Nationals. Judging by what we saw over the weekend at Rostelecom Cup, all of these young ladies are going to put up a tremendous fight for those top three spots.
Wouldn't he, worst case scenario, be the first substitute? Say it's Javier, Shoma, Yuzuru, Boyang, Maxim and Patrick. If the podium at NHK consists of Yuzuru, Boyang and Maxim in any order, they would all be above Patrick who has 22 points. Daisuke also has 22 if my math doesn't fail me. Patrick wins the tiebreaker because he won SC, so Dice is the first substitute. As he competed at TEB, he would get invited to the GPF. Or am I missing someone?
No, I'm pretty sure what you're saying is what was said in the previous thread, too. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I can go back now to seeking out good luck charms and spells for Yuzuru, Boyang and Maxim. :hap93:

Since every competitor with a shot at GPF did 2 short programs/dances and 1 free dance, I don't understand why they made the second tie-breaker completely ignore the one free dance score. I mean, why exclude the free dance completely? Having 3 programs to add improves the accuracy over only 2 programs regardless.
Its also a case of too bad, life isnt alway fair and easy. Sport isnt always fair either.
Every sport has their perks.
Also, Things happen that are out of our control.
So for the athlete, its a case of: Suck it up and move on.
