So by April 16 the decision will be made to postpone the 2020 World Championships to anywhere between October and December 2020, or consider them cancelled?
The April 16 deadline can be extended to August 31 if I've understood the document correctly.
The 2019/20 List of Officials remains valid, with the exception of members who don't meet the age requirements. Who does this concern?

My only problem with that, after watching the skaters who pull double duty in both juniors and seniors, is that they end up skating a lot of completions very often. I watched Mozalev skate 10 completions in a row between October and March, I honestly don’t know how he recovered from one to another. If they compete in both senior and junior and advance in both, that would be even more.
I would absolutely watch the top 24 competition, though... it’s just so exciting, and it’s pretty much GP in one shot kind of thing at the end of the season. But that should be post-World to account for all the scores? But then the Worlds are not going to be decisive?
Also, I love the whole idea of skaters from small feds also get a chance to be seen. But the cynic in me sees an overflow parking lot for skaters who live and train in big skating countries should the rules become advantageous (and no, maintaining residence in the country they compete for is not what I am saying, I am just saying training is quite naturally a school-forming business).
Is it truly so undesirable to change the flag to relieve pressure?
If they keep nationals as freely available to watch as it was this year, the pressure on making the 1 to 3 best is a tiny bit less, if people are watching the nationals... fingers crossed they do. Maybe uplifting the status and prestige of the national competitions is something that could help in some ways to deal with those oversupply problems. I would really want to continue to be able to see Rus, US and Japanese Nats because they are the ones that cannot field all they’ve got on the international stage.

Why does it take a whole conference to decide the ultimate fate of Worlds anyway? Common sense: it’s cancelled and can’t be rescheduled. Maybe they want to make it official? The time will be better put to use to ban senior-age skaters from competing in junior-level competition. Once a skater competes in a senior competition, they should no longer be allowed to compete at the junior level. I followed juniors a little for the first time ever (but only the men) and the flip-flopping is shady as hell. You can’t have your cake and eat it too!

The double duty happens in the ladies divisions as well. Some federations are just like, “oh, figure skating? we have it covered. So and so always goes...”
The age limit is 70 years old. So all judges, controllers and specialists who become 70 this year should be off the list of officials able to serve in international events.
Those who lacks service or seminar attendance for re-nomination will stay in.
Many of the smaller federations have only one elite skater who happens to be age-eligible for both Jr and Sr Competitions. Many do the JGP and then Challengers or B events, Euros or 4CC, and even JW and Worlds, if they qualify.

I understand why they do it, but it artificially bumps up the number of juniors around the world who could meet the requirements each year. I think it is sort of implied that if they can meet the seniors standards, they should be able to meet the juniors, and this doubling up just seems like more of an obstacle for the succession.

Except, of course, that when powerful leaders age out constitutionally they just change the constitution, applying the reasoning that only the Great Leader can get us through whatever the current crisis is. (Ottavio Cinquanta, for instance.)
I’m glad the ISU recognized the skaters’ needs and carried over the rhythm dance requirements into the 2021 season, or whatever we get of the 2021 season.
An expanded World Championships field sounds terrific, but why create a preliminary round if it just repeats the free skate like in years past? The short programs and rhythm dance already serve as the “qualifying round” that winnows the field, essentially by requiring a display of technical minimums.
Judges obviously can’t focus on 54 short programs without a break. But since a third round in each discipline already means 6 days of competition instead of 4, perhaps the short programs (and rhythm dance) each could become a daylong event split into afternoon and evening sessions.

Depending on the measures taken and their effects, this could last well into the next year, with even a postponed Olympics still not safe.

Ahem. Not all of skating is big-country skaters.
Was it "shady as hell" when Katia and Harley were going back and forth, because Australia had no other pair? What of the Olympic season? They were cut out of the GP by trashy politics from the big countries and so were forced to go back to JGP - but under your rule, they would not have been allowed, and been forced into limbo, in the most important season of all? Should smaller countries constantly lose spots on the JGP because their only eligible skater skated in Seniors one time?

ISU will also discuss the 2020/21 season this month. Whether the GP can take place or not is up in the air, it may be cancelled.

GP stages depend on too many variables regarding local health and public safety measures that cannot be foreseen yet.
It will be a logistical nightmare when a stage gets canceled at the last moment.
In one week a sensible decision can hardly be made I think.

It is possible to organize GPs but only if each stage has a "back up plan". For example, challengers often take place together with early GP stages and maybe there are countries that would like to contribute. But it's only provided that good ways to fight the virus are found and that the situation is at least good enough to hold competitions with limited/no audience.

i have a solution for you ISU, cancel this stupid thing, we're holding our own skating awards on the site, if you want we can dress up for the occasion
anyway it's too soon as for now to make plans for the fall, anything can or can't change, many countries in the world are working on a vaccine, the earlier test i know of will start at the end of this month in Great Britain
