Jason Brown

It has always irked me when people make the argument that Jason is technically deficient because of the lack of quads, when you consider that spins and steps are ALSO technical elements. And he has great jumps, even if they're not quads. But those same people never talk about how some skaters are technically deficient in their steps and spins, and about the only thing they have is big jumps. I'm SO GLAD spins and step values are getting increased. Maybe it will force people to be more well rounded skaters, which will make the sport better.

I hope Jason has an absolutely stellar season. He deserves his flowers, and to go out on a great note.

Amen!👏

Could not agree more. Jumps are NOT the only "tech". Spins and spirals and choreo and steps are just as much tech. If the values are increased for those important elements, I believe that it is in no small part due to the talent, hard work and unique skill set of one Jason Brown.

I so hope he is really is having his farewell tour, with all the love he desrves.

As for this season, in my heart of hearts I realize he isn't "teaching" 7x24" and that there is more than enough time in the day to work on new programs. As in past years, he's just not ready to let us know what those programs are!! Jason has always had a specialness about him that rose above what jumps he had or didn't have. I do think he's been a major contributor to demanding more than just jumps and that an elite skater has to be more well-rounded. The choreography he does and the way he does it is not easy and you won't see a junior skater even coming close to that presentation - but the junior jumper may be able to rotate a quad. I don't think that's enough anymore. I've always preferred a skater who interprets the music and the jumps, spins and choreo just enhance that music. I know I'm preaching to the choir in this thread but.....so be it!
