Jason Brown

Congrats to Jason, I can't imagine how he could have done better. I look forward to re-watching it when IN gets the archive up. It will take a while, maybe another day, judging by the time it took for the Ladies SP. But it might be our only way to watch the skates that have been pulled from DailyMotion (Boyang, Shoma, Jason, Jorik Hendrickx, Brendan Kerry, a couple others).

Oddly, FujiTV didn't touch Patrick's or Kevin Reynolds' videos on youtube. Wish I knew what Canada did to make that happen.

Edit: Thanks Mrs. P!

Way to go, Jason! I am over the moon that Jason did so well after everything he's been through. What a competitor! I just got home and watched the short on IN 5 times before making myself stop. It's the mid-section that I can't seem to stop watching, the step sequence I guess. I find it mesmerizing.

Thanks for the reports from those of you there in person! I hope you get to see the long and report back on that. The crowd seemed awesome and it was so funny that they reacted to the K&C.

I'm thrilled that I can now relax for 24 hrs and watch the Ladies tomorrow at a decent time before getting nervous again.

Insomnia has been my constant companion this week so I was awake at around 3 am this morning and caught Jason's last practice run-through of the SP. All his jumps were silky smooth and I thought then that it would be a good day for him. I didn't realize just how good it would be!

I was at work and couldn't watch the SP live but caught the score and was thrilled for Jason. Now that I've seen it, I can't stop watching (and I downloaded it so can I watch it over and over)! It is beautiful, sublime, emotional and perfect. In looking at the protocols for the top ten, only Jason and Patrick received no zero or negative GOEs from any judge.

I'm also loving reading everyone else's reactions and want to give a special thank you to the people who were in the arena for their first hand accounts. :luv17:

Daisuke Takahashi's comments during Fuji TV broadcast last night:

"Jason Brown senshu does not have/go for quads (among the current skaters with numerous quads). Must have been very hard for him to skate last I guess, however, everything was flawless, so perfect to the music, the way he skated moved me to tears."

I didn't record it, so I don't remember what he exactly said but something like the above he said. When asked for some comments, Daisuke was speechless at first, then told in a hoarse voice. :)

ANd my hubby was like :love: becides me during his performance. :angry2: I forgive him though.

Jason popularity update: the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation is using a picture of Jason (mid-sit spin) as the thumbnail photo for the men's SP video :) (the ladies' video has Emmi Peltonen).

Jason has practice in the practice rink in 1/2 hour, so I'm going to skip some dance teams and go and watch him instead. I'll report back!

Great RT from Jason apart from a 2foot quad, a popped loop and a fall on 3A. He popped a million quad attempts into doubles, then did two beautiful quads one after the other.

Jackie Wong just reported he saw clean 4Ts from Jason, and also 4S attempts?!

Actually Jackie Wong is using him as a thumbnail too!

So it looks like Jason is going for the 3A-3T in the fs. Even with doing it in the front he has an opportunity to garner more points if executed well.

The max for even a 3f-3t in the second half is 12.8. The BV for a 3a-3t is 12.6 alone and he can earn up to 15.6 points.

Did I wake up in a parallel universe???????

ETA so that makes it 7 quad toes in one day? (!)

Parallel universe explains it I think!

ETA he landed the first one after the Cubs won World Series so I think earning highest quadless SP score ever might give similar bump in confidence and ability to land quads. 😉

Actually Cubs just won their National League pennant games at the time, but close enough.

And Northwestern did just make the NCAA tournament for the first time in their more than seven-decade program and won its first round game. So if you believe in // hometown sports occurrences, then there you go.
