Jason Brown

Alas, I was out for so long! But I saw this pop up on my twitter feed and grinned goofily for the rest of the afternoon!

I just watched this and omg, it's totally in keeping with their personalities

- Jason is grinning hugely, gushing to the team he's giving medals to, hugging them, generally looking like he's the happiest guy on the earth

- Max is clearly taking his job very seriously, congratulating each team member as he solemnly places the medals around their neck (and he knows a thing or two about losing a tight competition, but he also knows how to smile while doing it - it can't have been easy to hand out medals to a group of sour-faced skaters like that)

- Josh is smiling goofily, almost a little shyly, as he congratulates everyone and hands out the medals.

And I am just SO HAPPY because they were there and all handsome in their suits (but appear to have got conflicting memos, perhaps? Max in a three-piece suit, but Jason with no tie?) and I want that to be the Olympic team so freaking badly.

Of course Jason has to hug each and every team member :laugh2:

Yes... you have win gold to get a hug from TeamUSA members... no hugs for the bronze and silver medalists... have to make them jealous so they will come back and fight harder next year.

I call it "The Michael Phelps Effect". Believe it or not, if Michael Phelps (5G, 1S) Katie Ledecky (4G, 1S), and Simone Biles (4G, 1B) were together a separate country in Rio, their 16 (13G, 2S, 1B) medals would have had them finishing 12th overall.

Now, back to the important topic of how cute these guys were.......;)

I think a lot of guys have very different ideas on what is "formal" for each type of occasion. I'm just glad that none of them took that God-awful fashion trend that some guys (even in a professional environment) think that it's okay to wear light colored or funky patterned socks with suits. Socks should be plain and match your the color of your trousers. Always.

I can't believe I watched most of the Syncro medal ceremony. Jason was cute as always. Why did two skaters go off the ice after they got medals, injury? I also noticed one with a black dress when everyone else was in red. Was she an alternate? Odd, just an observation.

No, the black dress was part of the costuming. I read an explanation for it, but don't remember what it was. Loved that routine by the Canadian team!

You can say the same thing about my home state of Maryland which ended up with 18 golds, largely thanks to Phelps and Ledecky. Had to brag. :)

Haha. Are you sure about that? I don't remember if the socks were visible. My sons would wear socks like this, and they would also wear the brown shoes with a dark suit. Hipster wannabes. I live in a very casual area now where athletic apparel is the norm for most occasions. If you want to dress up you wear your newest and cleanest North Face.

She was the star of sorts of the program. She was a recent widow and the program was her journey... well you get the idea. Think of her as a soloist almost.

I am going to toss out that this is a good thing. Why can't guys have a little more freedom in how they dress? If Max and Josh want to wear a tie, that should not mean that Jason should wear a tie or that they are overdressed with a tie. Assuming a tie is not required/expected, I see nothing wrong with them opting to wear one for the fun of it. Nor do I think Jason looks under-dressed in anyway. They may display a range of formalness in male fashion but so what? They all look nice... any one option would be appropriate for the situation, let them wear what they want and like. I think it is great we are giving them the freedom to wear what they like.

Looks like Jason was wearing his best from his trip to Helsinki and NYC. Maybe he hasn't had a chance to do laundry.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but the Tara and Johnny commentary on Jason's LP:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgWhDDryorM

I am very pleasantly surprised. :shocked:I may take back every nasty thing I ever said about Johnny. (Well, not *every* nasty thing:laugh:) And not only were they complimentary, they were amazingly silent through most of it.

Jason as the "lemon sorbet" after quadmania; dare I say I like that comment?

The power of the Piano......

^^^I thought they were very complimentary of Jason. And I now know I wasn't imagining it. They WERE amazingly silent during many of the programs. It almost seemed as if the "Shut up!" messages had gotten through to them. We can only hope!

ICYMI, here's Jason's gala performance followed by a short interview (CBC): https://youtu.be/_g2MVw0fRZg

Starts at 12:26

Thanks for that, TMC. I love hearing and seeing the different commentators.

Does anyone know who the CBC commenters were? And as wonderfully complementary as they were in the beginning, they then talked over the last half of it to discuss quads??? Not cool. :noshake: Tara (particularly the new and improved Tara) looks good in comparison.

Pretty sure that's Kurt Browning, Andi Petrillo, and Carol Lane (British accent).
