Jason Brown

Has USFS finally figured out that Jason has star quality? He's featured inside the mag as well as on the cover! 🤗

Thx for the link; even more backstage photographs. :cool14:

And in the WTT article, even though the headline quote "I live for this event" was not attributed in the headline, how did I know who said that?

(And not because I was smart enough to remember it from a previous article....)

omg yes a little known secret JASON BROWN HAS STAR QUALITIY! AS IF WE NEVER KNOW! GOD BLESS AMERICA AND JASON BROWN.:yahoo:

Only a little over to weeks to go!

What do you think the style of his FS music will be? Will it be a classical warhorse, a rock anthem, a movie theme or...

I'm going to guess it'll be from a movie.

I don't know what to think! I think movie (or ballet?) is more likely than rock or a warhorse.

In my mind, they need something that melds the best of Riverdance (crowd pleasing, relentless build / excitement) with the emotional depth and beauty of line that made a Piano such a wonder. Tall order!

I recently watched his old (2011?) program to Flow Like Water from the Last Airbender. It's such beautiful music, and I'd love to see what Rohene would do with it for Jason now, but I think it's highly highly unlikely they'd ever repeat it.

Not only desperately hoping for Broadmoor comps, but maybe a free exhibition in Jason's future?

Broadmoor Skating Club has announced "Fire And Ice" exhibitions for skaters, including those at WTC (Jason might not train there, but he lives there)

(h/t to @ice coverage for the link)

and guess who was wearing a Fire Within/Ice Below t-shirt at the PSA conference?

Which probably has absolutely nothing to do with anything, but boy, am I bored:laugh2:

We're almost certainly looking at a movie theme/ballad/dramatic type FS, if the short is peppy and high energy. Rohene doesn't seem to go near the warhorses that much so we won't likely get one of those. I wonder if they might go back to the Pearl Harbour FS that was discarded? Jason isn't a "balletic" type so I doubt it would be a ballet piece.

The question, I suppose, is what movie? It almost certainly won't be La La Land - that's too mainstream for them, and Rohene had said he had the idea already last year, I think?

why not ROCK THEME! I mean high energy the youth the hair down really rockin make the fans jump out of there seats excitmemt and a good usa patriotic theme.GO USA!:hap10:

You know I thought of this as well!

I also thought about Pearl Harbor, but I don't know the music.

As to ballet, I agree that Jason's not typically "balletic," but his line and movement are very elegant and in the past he did Nutcracker and Liebestraum (which has been used for ballet) beautifully. I wasn't really thinking of stuff like this (too much like Piano) or warhorses like Swan Lake or Romeo & Juliet though - there are some ballets that are more modern and character driven and those are the ones I had in mind. I think it's a long shot, though.

As to real warhorses, I would love to see what Rohene & Jason would do with the West Side Story Symphonic Dances - but again, I can't imagine they'd pick it.

ETA TMC that clip is hysterical!

Also can not wait til Jason's music choices are revealed but I won't second guess Rohene!!
That said, I fell in love with the OST from Rogue One composed by Michael Chiacchino especially

or

I recommended for Mirai Bell in her ff as an alternative when I heard she might be considering Beauty & the Beast so it was not a stretch fr me to think of it for Jason too! Especially since he has skated to music from sci-fi before (Last Airbender). But I leave it to Rohene who knows best just tell us SOON please!!

yes they are all good choices! fingers crossed .ill guess we will all have too wait and see. I know it will be great.its the Olympic season right.:hap10:

Oh, the speculation is killing me ... but one thing Jason has done for me is introduce me to 90s (and later) movie soundtracks, that, much like 90s and later pop music, I would never know without skating:laugh: And I agree for the LP, slower, dramatic, not-so-known but not obscure instrumental, no vocals.

Seeing the Blades of Glory clip reminded me of this immortal exhibition from Christopher Bowman, at his most outrageous (the whole program is worthwhile, but if you only have 15 seconds, start at 3:46 , to entertain us while we wait for Broadmoor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C2UqqJnYdw

Just remember this whenever anyone tries to tell you Jason is (see what I'm doing here) too "cheesy" or too "hammy" And yes, I know it's an exhibition, but this was 27 years ago folks. Bowman the Showman was one of a kind.

^^^Of course, I had to watch the whole EX. Oh Christopher, Christopher! Why did you have to leave us?! Wasn't this also the year where after the FS he told Frank Carroll in the K & C "I didn't know what I was doing out there" and Frank responded, "I know you didn't. I choreographed the program." RIP my friend.

Many years ago I saw the National Ballet of Canada's production of the original ballet Masada. It involves a Jewish fortress holding out against the Roman army and culminates in a mass suicide. I looked it up, and the music was rachmaninoff's Symphoniuc Dances. If Jason wanted to go the Schindler's List/9-11/historical tragedy route, he couldn't pick a better or more fitting vehicle.

There may have been only a few stagings of the ballet. Audiences who went for the "pretty stuff" were outraged by the depiction on the suicides at the end. I went with my 12-year-old son and he was mesmerized.

Jason is at the Toyota Sports Center, per a tweet from today:

@jasonbskates Thanks for being a ray of sunshine @ToyotaSportsCtr!

I seem to recall Jason or Rohene making a comment about the FS being dramatic but I'm not fond of the music from Pearl Harbor so I hope that's not it. I could totally see him skating to something classical and intense like Carmina Burana and rocking the house.

Heh heh - Toyota Sports Center: you see, el henry, I told you so. 😉

Re his FS, I have no idea. Honestly. I listened to the music from Pearl Harbor and it's pretty but kinda boring - not as good as Flow Like Water - so hope it's not that. I like Carmina but it's done so often I really hope that's not it either. I think whatever he does, the goal will be to draw the audience in and bring them to their feet. So it will need some kind of build. if we're lucky, he'll do Broadmoor as well as the jumps competition, and we'll get to see it in about 2 weeks. If not....we wait, I guess! But at least we'll get to see those jumps.

Thx, @katmari, and yes, @tavi, you were right;). Jason is with Frank, God's in His heaven, and all is right with the world.:)

Now if we can see the results at Broadmoor, please!
