Jason Brown

Thank you @synesthesia what a unique and lovely piece.

And I would commend to anyone who has doubts about same gender pairings. Dai and Jason are captivating in the opening moments. :love2:
The surprise for me was that Jason Brown is taller than Daisuke Takahashi! I thought they were about the same size, or Daisuke a bit taller.
But their skate is really inspiring.
I don't see same gender Ice Dance very soon as a competitive discipline, it would need figure skating to be more popular and drain more means I think, and have more judges available, longer competitions and all. But when two such awesome skaters have a duo in a show, and I believe prepare it earnestly beforehand, it's really beautiful.

Thank you for that! It's absolutely beautiful! Looking forward to watching the rest!

The rest of the performances from the highlights broadcast are now up in the KanaDai FF :):

Love the concept of the show!

Jason is listed in the cast of Yuzuru's "Notte Stellata" show in March.

:hap10:

(Shae Lynn is also listed. Riverdance redux? ;) Jason (so far) is the only American and only non-Japanese man. )

Held ten days before worlds. Just sayin'.....

As this is a commemorative show on the anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake the dates were hardly negotiable. But I am sooo happy to see Jason join Yuzuru for this.
Actually I tentatively expected we might see him at one of Yuzu's events one of these days....

or maybe not expecting to do well enough at nationals
Jason said that if he happened to end up in the top 3 and was invited to World's, he would love to go. But he also said that competing was something he wanted to do IF he could also do shows and train without getting back into the grind. I don't think he would go to Worlds if he thought he couldn't place high enough to help win 3 spots for the US. I think it's great that he's doing a benefit show with Yuzu. They are friends and he loves Japan. It wouldn't prohibit him from going to Worlds if asked. But right now, the only competition he's committed to is Nats

I don't think this show would prevent Jason from going to Worlds, if invited. I think he might stay in Japan to train, if he could find a rink (I'm sure if Yuzu helped, he would get a rink pronto ;) )

But I think Jason is in a freer headspace now, than he was in the year before the Olys. Then, it was Job One to qualify for the Olys. Now, if he goes to Worlds, great, if he doesn't, life is still good.

I'm so happy for him to be in a Yuzu show, though. :)

makes sense. i do wonder if it's a placeholder in a sense, if he decides to not go to worlds/doesn't make it he's got something else on the calendar.

since worlds is in Japan, if he makes it he could always do both and just train there between if it's possible.

anyway, i'm so excited to see him skate at nationals.

I do think that technically going to Worlds wouldn't be an obstacle if he can train somewhere there, and would even erase the jetlag. But I'm sure that Notte Stellata implies a commitment to specific work (like Explosions did), so, politically speaking, wouldn't he be criticised should he go to Worlds and happen not to succeed there as well as he'd hoped? Well, he's clever and certainly knows what goes on, and has not been done any favour. And there's also his mental health : I don't know how he fares, but it is certainly doing him good to dive in really innovative ice shows, because I believe that this is what he too is aiming at. And, if Ice Explosions is heavily subsidised by Japan Skating Federation, which could probably not be done in North America, Notte Stellata is not.
Anyway, speaking strictly about Notte Stellata, I'm really happy because he and Patrick Chan were the two non-Japanese Men I most hoped to see there (Stéphane Lambiel being too busy with Shoma Uno and Deniss Vasiljevs to prepare for Worlds). Now I'm really impatient to see what they will do together and separately!

American SOI starts in May, which explains how Jason can do Canadian SOI. Of course he is doing the American version as well. :)

It's not clear whether all the skaters will be at all venues. I don't see Allentown listed and assume that they won't be playing there. Hershey is my closest venue, but it would require a hotel room. I'd love to go, though. I'm not deciding right away.

It has been pointed out to me that maybe these are the only "VIP" venues, and others may be added? It is odd that there is no Jersey/Long Island venue, for example.

Allentown is only in Olympic years, IME. Although at the rate Jason is going, he may be on the SOI tour in 2026

Just been selecting my predictions for US Nationals - I have picked Jason to win - after all, his personal best is (just) higher than Ilia Malinin's.

Could he win gold again? He seems to do best when he's not under pressure, and with a supportive audience - both are true at this year's Nationals.....
