Jason Brown

Popping in here today to share Jason's programs at 2023 Worlds, with no commentary, full replays, and full K&C. Savor it!:love::love:

No words are needed, of course, but Terry, Tara, and Johnny couldn't say enough good things. Yes, I wrote them down, which I very rarely want to do. Trust me, it's worth it. ;)

After his SP (during which they were completely silent, IIRC), the three had this exchange:

Terry: "Guys, there's just not one moment where you feel like you can look away. His skating demands that you watch every single second."

Tara: "So true, Terry. I couldn't say a word over that performance. You get lost in the magic that he creates out there. This is exactly what figure skating dreams are made of. There was a moment where I felt like his blades were actually playing the piano. The way that he executes his choreography is absolutely masterful. The mood he creates is like no other. That was spectacular."

Johnny: "This program is truly one of the masterpieces of our sport. And, the GOE he got in this program is worth more points than a 3A."

Tara: "He's out there because he loves it which has elevated his skating even more if that's even possible."

Terry's intro before his LP music started was, "The most artistically gifted skater of his generation. Every time he's out there he paints the pictures and it's a work of art."

Right after his LP ended, Terry said, "Style. Grace. Elegance. Quintessential Jason Brown. He just makes you feel, when he's on the ice."

Just before the LP commercial break, Terry said, "Standing ovation's gonna go on for some time."

At some point after the LP, Johnny said, "His skating, absolutely timeless. It will be remembered forever and ever."
Jason Brown and his skating will be remembered for ever and ever. He is a treasure on and off the ice.

Having just watched NHK Men's free - I came here because I know this group will support me in this. I would give just about anything to see a duet with Jason and Shoma.
That would be fun! I'm surprised that they haven't actually tried that even for fun! They used to goof around a lot during comps. Then Shoma would beat Jason. He beat everybody except, sometimes, Yuzu.

Well, as some seem to reproach Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri their comparatively modest difference in height, a Jason Brown and Shoma Uno duet would do in this respect.
More seriously, I'd expect tons of beautiful spirals, side-by-side or mirrored, do they spin alike? I've never asked myself and I'm a dummy at watching spins. Side-by-side steps too, maybe a tap dance emulation duet?

Jason and Shoma did a small duet together way back in 2016 during THE ICE show. The video is long gone but here are some gifs that were posted on tumblr:

It would be great to see an updated duet. :)

Still can't get used to seeing Brian's bald head. When I first came in here my first glance at Timothy was it was Jason with a horrible horrible haircut. I was so relieved when he started talking and I realized who it was.

Here is another Q and A that was done when Jason was in Warsaw, Poland.
Anybody who wants him to skate to Chopin's piano piece? (Raise your hand!)✋
He was also not sure yet if he will be invited to skate for the SOI next year.
Hope that he will be!

I would love to see Jason skate to Chopin (perfect together) but my personal favorite is the Ocean Etude, and I am not certain how conducive or adaptable that would be to figure skating. ;)

Interesting that Jason again reiterated here, he is not portraying Tarzan. He is rather communicating the emotions that the legend of Tarzan embodies (and then rattles off quite a few emotions. :) )

And he had pierogies in Warsaw. 🍽️

I love this interview- Jason is adorable Jason - but how does he not know how to pronounce Chopin?? That really surprised me and made me giggle.

Actually Jason was recording it in Warsaw and pronounced it the way Poles would. Taking into account that Chopin was half-Polish, half-French, but born and raised in Poland, and considering himself Polish, with his French father having lived in Poland for years before his famous son's birth, such pronunciation is not really a mistake. Most probably Chopin himself would pronounce his name just this way, that is, before he moved to France for political reasons later in life, running from the persecution of Poles by the tsarist Russia of that time... :)

Thanks for that explanation! Learn something new every day.

I read Chopin/Chopina in Polish, but I think I have already read Chopena somewhere? It was decades ago... His father was "born Chopin in Marainville" (Lorraine, France, then under the Polish rule of the King of France's father-in-law), but he had emigrated to Poland at 16 and he married a Polish woman, and they lived in Poland.
