Jason Brown

I'm so happy for / proud of Jason!

I'd love to see him on the podium, but I don't think that's realistic. Top five is doable though. If all the skaters equal their season best free skate score, Jason would finish in fifth.

I hope the Brown family has managed to round up tickets for the free skate! Jason's dad tweeted this earlier:

Steve Brown @SBrownie2310
Jason is in 6th after the short--- less than 2 points out of third---now all we need are tickets--- the event is sold out!

So I'm sort of shipping this bromance between Jason and Hanee, who I really like as well.

Han Yan Success Perm:laugh2: I love it; I'm so out of it, I thought Han's hair was just sweaty. Also, I can vouch for the attraction of the inappropriate perm, from the opposite viewpoint ... in the 70s, Afros were "the look". So I got myself an Afro. Even though I have almost Jason-level naturally curly hair. I looked like a Brillo pad. You go, Han! Any friend of Jason (pretty much the whole skating world?) is a friend of mine...

Also, Mrs. P, Doug Mattis must be reading your posts  He just posted a still of the Jason/Han Yan high five on Facebook and said:

"What we would hope a champion would be...?

Kind, approachable, extremely talented, thankful, ready to be a good loser and winner...right?

Here's Jason, last night, wishing his friend, Han Yan, who'd just skated, congratulations on his way off the ice. In a moment where most skaters are so into their own focus that they'd file a protest if there were any interaction at this juncture...Jason is truly appreciative of his friend and lets him know it.

Honestly, this could have been almost anyone in that event-- Jason is either friends with everyone or ready to be friends with everyone.

THAT...is IT.

THAT...is lasting, meaningful, and the stuff of which as a PSA coach...I can demonstrate to my students what is possible in regard to sportsmanship and humanity."

I was just going to post that, el henry!

That was the sweetest thing I've seen in a long, long time *wipes away a tear*

:love::love::love:

And I'm SOOOOOOOOO happy with Jasons skate!! And that 3A, damn! Way to silence the critics. No telegraphing, no question mark on the rotation, really good height and very well done to the music. He definitely deserves to be in the last group, and I feel pretty good about his chances at a top 5 finish, which would be super awesome. And more importantly, I'm sure he'll give us a beautiful performance of that beautiful program. I'm so excited!

I think the reason Jason's programs work so well is because at the core of his programs is one very simple thing. His personality. Kori seems really good about having her skater's personalities lead the way or maybe she is just good at finding very endearing students. In Mariah's interview the other day it really stuck with me that Kori stresses the importance of being a good person. The skaters I follow the closest are the ones I find to be the most sincere and portray a piece of themselves everytime they take the ice. Well....sounds a bit like Jason to me :)

So glad he made the final flight and I'll be sure to root a little extra hard for him in the FS.

Good job with the Instagram takeover Jason!

I am enjoying how Jason is so inclusive and makes sure every team USA skater receives equal attention in his video highlights and photo montages.

So much love for this entire post.

I'm as much a fan of Jason the person as Jason the skater.

You go, Han! Any friend of Jason (pretty much the whole skating world?) is a friend of mine...

I know I pay more attention to any skater Jason hangs around with or mentions a lot. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

(My cat Sebastian will return as my avatar after worlds are over, for now it's Russian splits Jason.)

I am so thrilled with the new 3a entrance  Just amazing that it came together that fast !!!

I just hope Jason has 2 more just as gorgeous in the free skate!

Jason is just so reliably awesome. I can't wait to see his FS. He's going to bring it!

Is there any clip of any commenter not giggling at his sprinkler?

They all giggle at his sprinkler.

I think the only time that happens is when there's no commentary.

It always makes me smile. He always looks like he's having fun. For me, it is important that skaters look like they're enjoying themselves - that they remember why they started to skate.

I'm so happy that Kori changed the entry for the 3A. that sort of musical cue is exactly what a performer like Jason needs to feel comfortable with the jump, I think. This has really been a year of experimenting for Jason, trying new things and seeing what works

I find it sort of amusing that it took ADDING a transition to get him to master the jump...and now he gets a bonus of an interesting entry for +GOE!

I agree...which makes me find it amusing that transitions often count as difficult entries and earn more points. Golfers are taught not to think about hitting the ball but to instead focus on the swing and the ball just happens to be inthe way of the club head. Maybe the same concept at play. Although....Happy Gilmore is the only golfer I would credit with a difficult entry.
