Jason Brown

Just watched Jason on Finnish TV again - the commentators just  him. Laura Lepistö is one of them, and she has lots of good things to say about our Jason. Also happy that they pointed out that although he has great showmanship, he backs it up with excellent technique. They pointed out how extremely difficult his step sequence is (this is what bothers me sometimes; people say he "doesn't have the technical goods" but aside from one extra revolution in one jump, his programmes are insanely difficult!)

You know how you can tell when a person speaks on the phone - or in this case on TV - that they're smiling? I've listened to this commentary many times now just because it's adorable that you can tell that they are wearing the widest smiles

The Spanish commentators also seem to like him very much! Does anyone know who the male commentator is? I think he might be Javier Raya?

I'm so thrilled for Jason! It wasn't perfect, but considering that he had to skate last and with the pressure of helping the US keep three spots, it was amazing, and a huge improvement from the Olympics.

Best of all, they weren't practice pants!

Seriously, I'm also really happy that both Adam and Josh also skated so beautifully despite their errors. I especially loved that Adam kept smiling. Yay for the US men, and as long as I'm straying off topic, yay for our womens team, too!

Who makes the Gala? Is Gala a reasonable goal for Jason?

Haven't seen a gala list, but seems very likely that you got your wish, Stitch :).

Congratulations to Jason, and many thanks to Jason  and Adam  for the three spots.

(And thanks to Josh for being such a pleasure to watch.)

Han Yan Success Perm:laugh2: I love it; I'm so out of it, I thought Han's hair was just sweaty. Also, I can vouch for the attraction of the inappropriate perm, from the opposite viewpoint ... in the 70s, Afros were "the look". So I got myself an Afro. Even though I have almost Jason-level naturally curly hair. I looked like a Brillo pad. You go, Han! Any friend of Jason (pretty much the whole skating world?) is a friend of mine...
Go Jason's wonderful curly hair!!! No more hairgrease, Jason, please!!!

"It wasn't perfect, but considering that he had to skate last" exactly!! skate last it's very stressing! Poor Jason! But next time az WC he will be on the podium!

Yes, 3 spots for Boston!

Congrats to Jason for his 4th place finish! I think it's the best placement he could've hoped for w/o the Q word.

Three spots? :cheer:

Adam and Jason's combined finish earned three spots to next years World Championships for USA.

The USA is the only country in mens to do this other than Spain, but they have no one to fill them with other than Javi, they had two spots this year, but could not fill the second.

There is Javier Raya...who tried his hardest to get hte FS minimum...He like did four competition in one month and just fell short..I hope he can do Worlds next year...

Well I will keep my fingers crossed for him to at least be able to use one of the spots. Maybe having three will fire up Spain a bit.

I'd love to see Spain fill all three spots, but not sure I would put money on it.

Post-FS quotes:

Jason Brown (4th place, SB 84.32 + 163.97 = SB 248.29)

(on free skate) I feel great. I wish that second Axel could have been a little better. I’m so proud that the U.S. men have three spots going into worlds next year in Boston.

(on finishing fourth) It’s crazy to be fourth in the world. I couldn’t ask for anything more right now. I skated the best that I could in those moments and it’s nice to walk away as fourth in the world.

Jason has updated his blog on icenetwork and the dumpling saga continues. Jason does love to write about food doesn't he?

Not only have I been back to the dumpling place that I wrote about in my first entry but I've been back multiple times...and when my parents and brother arrived in Shanghai, that is the first place I showed them! Whenever Kori and I travel, we always find a place that we get hooked on, and continually want to go back to for more. On this trip, it is the delicious dumpling place!
