Jason Brown

(Oh, and I feel terribly like an overage school-gossip, but apparently Liza thinks Jason is handsome.;))

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

;)

That's a sweet idea :)
What animal is Josh?

I have Josh down as a kangaroo. It is a little cliche, but he did say he wanted to meet one one day in that Whats Up Worlds Team video, so...

Well I have to confess that I was wrong in doubting that Jason would get the quad this season. And I was wrong to think that he probably wouldn't even make it on the Worlds team because of it. That quad is fabulous. If he can do it once, he can do it again. I will eat my humble pie with relish!

Very, very nicely executed quad from Jason. Air position, rotation and his
landing position looked first rate and effortless to me!

You were nice about it, though, so that's okay.

Just saw the schedule for Nepela. Not sure if it changed, but it now looks like I have commitments during both the SP (work) and the FS (class). I hope they post individual start times so I can casually take little breaks to watch!

That quad is amazing!! He's got it nailed and I'm sure he'll do marvelous things with it this season. So looking forward to his next competition!
Papagena: The only solution to your scheduling issue is to retire early. Hah!! Just kidding... OR. Become independently wealthy...😁

There will be YouTube videos I'm sure! I will probably have to miss it myself. I think I will be on the road for the FS. The SP is before work, so I should be able to see that.

Thanks all! It's good to know YouTube is an option.

I hope I can manage to stream both of his performances live and then check results in the PBP thread. I wouldn't stream the whole thing though. Work shouldn't be too tough, but Saturday is my skating class! I guess I could just tell the teacher I need to take a quick break and huddle with my iPhone briefly.....not something I'd normally do, but for Jason + quad I might have to! :)

Imagine if he does that quad out of steps in his SP? You don't want to miss seeing that live! Your skating teacher won't want to miss seeing that live!

It would be awesome for Jason to land a clean quad next weekend but even if it isn't totally clean, we can look forward to a jump that is light years better than his attempt at Four Continents. You know at the time I thought Kori was crazy to have Jason put that in his short program but now I see her strategy more clearly. He attempted it in competition and now he jumps it clean in practice so adding it next weekend won't be so nerve wracking (for him at least, I will be on pins and needles).

The Beautiful Quad

Hello, I'm new to the Jason Brown thread. I became an Entranced Instant Fan of Jason's at Skate Detroit 2013 ... just watching him in practices! He was boogy-ing to everyone else's music. Among all the tense and/or concentrated faces, it was so refreshing. The Joy of Skating.

Thank you for posting the Instragram of Jason's beautifully executed quad toe. :cheer: So speedy, so gorgeous, so effortless looking. (Ha!) When I think of his quad done at 4CC, it's easy to see the wisdom of Kori Ade. The difference is like night and day, and I know, I know, doing it in comp. is different. But it seems to me that he knows how it's supposed to feel now. He's passed the hurdle (done one in competition), but his confidence is upheld by completing such a wonderful season overall without a quad. 4th in the world :cheer: and U.S. Champion.

I'll try to catch up with the last 25 pages, but have you all discussed the TSL interview with Kori? It's simply fabulous.

We all have our hopes up, don't we! But I'm trying to temper my expectations a bit. Realistically, they probably thought very carefully before letting Coach Vincent post that clip. So we don't know if that's the best one he's ever done or kind of the norm for practice. Also, based on his training mate's tweet, landing it clean in his program(s) is new. So...who knows what will happen next week? Can't wait, though! :)

Yes, this is how I became a Jason fan too. Even when I like other skaters' programs better, even when other skaters are landing their jumps better or skating with more speed, I still root for Jason because of his joy.

Welcome!

Oh me too, but I'll still be crazy nervous

Look at it this way: he went from not having 3A at all, to suddenly having it a few days before JGPF and then putting it in the program there. And 3 months later he did 3 3As at JR Worlds. Then he had a season where he had the 3A but he stalked it around the rink like crazy. Now the jump is quite stable and he is able to do it directly from difficult transitions.

So in my mind I'm giving this season to stalking a quad that is there sometimes and sometimes isn't. 2016-2017 he'll have lost the stalk and be doing his quad out of steps, and by 2018 he'll probably be doing it from Y-spirals :laugh2:

Perhaps pettily, I am looking forward to another of those snarky comparison videos showing Johnny's total pettiness again at season's end.

I'd like to watch the previous one. Perhaps pettily. :) Can you or anyone provide a link please?
